PHIL was stunning today--Win #44!!!!
Of course PHIL won the HSBC in 2007 and it was co-sanctioned by every tour but the PGA tour. The next year they co-sanctioned it. One can make a case for 45. I note that for years the OPen championship did not count as PGA wins.

bigger issue is 2009 hsbc, which was a WGC, yet the tour did not count it as an official win, despite sanctioning it

It was amazing to see Phil play so well on a Sunday errrr Monday while in contention to win! Perhaps being a couple back heading into the round helped him instead of him feeling like he had to protect a lead. I'm so impressed by his resiliency and work ethic. How many players could miss a cut (after a somewhat heartbreaking 2nd place a couple weeks ago) and then win the following week?
I wish reporters would stop constantly talking about his age. It's obvious he's a once-in-a-lifetime type of talent (okay twice-in-a-lifetime with Tiger), and that playing in his 40s isn't the same for him as any Joe Schmoe tour player. And knock on wood, but Phil has never been injury prone. He's playing some amazing golf and that should be the main story, not his age. I also wish they wouldn't have brought up the US Open, but they're going to bombard him with questions about that whether he won here or not.
But in any event, it's a great time to be a Phil fan! Also, we need to schedule the duel with Tiger yearly because I don't think it's a coincidence that Phil is playing so well after that win.

Yea, I could see Paul Casey getting 'miffed' about people talking about Phil's age: "Will you stop talking about Phil like he's a candidate for Medicare.... he easily dispatched a group of elite PGAtour professionals, stop talking about his 48 like he's 78......48 is the new 28!"
