And PHIL only has two holes left. He really wanted to finish out on Sunday!! He was feeling it on Sunday. Oh my goodness just 7 inches from another birdie at #16. He was ready to go but I understand Casey and his putt on #16. That 3 foot putt in the near dark and the bumps in the green getting bumpier and nowhere to a line. Plus he and his partner are one stroke ahead in the pro-am. Casey's partner is a local Memphis man and if he is a 13 handicapper then I am PHIL's brother!!! He has been astounding!!!

The positive news for PHIL is that the greens will be smooth. He will also know exactly what he has to do at #17. Plus at #18 I think it will be Iron Iron Iron at #18.

I'll be watchin!! Go Phil. Hmmm.... 3 shot lead, 2 holes. Come on Phil. That par-3 is just a sliver to hit near the hole and the par-5 18, he can play a 3-shot/layup to the green with something less than driver to still have a chance at birdie or Even at worst. I wonder if Amy will be there?

Phil's gum is likely another man's cigarette or chewable tobacco. New this year, but I love it's effect!

I hope regardless of lead if its 3 shots I still want iron off 18th. No macho man stuff.

Peter Kostis was talking about Phil's driver /club-head speed at Palm Springs and again here this week ("he's gained some serious speed with his driver") and he was indicating that he was doing some 'speedstick' work?  Anyone have any clarification on this?  I have been wanting to do that myself.  There's a strategy out there about alternating light sticks practicing to swing fast fast fast, and also heavier clubs to work in a higher weighting that when you go back to the regular weight club, they feel lighter (but you need the work with the light weight to get ingrained the sense of fast as well).   I've been running (on treadmill) and about to hit 2 miles every other day with dumbbell and pushups afterwards; about at the point where my belly is flattening and i'm starting to feel stronger and will start visiting our club's little weight/exercise room routinely....but need to do something with my swingspeed which has taken some serious hits the last few years.

Anyone hear anything specific about what Phil's been doing?
