US Open 2015 1st round

UGH...Phil hit bunker approach long and then tried to lag it from 50 feet and played way too much break and not enough speed...missed 12 foot par putt...sort of an unforced error there as the 10th is a potential birdie hole. Used 3 wood off tee and hit bunker...oh well at least it was just one shot...Phil has played fantastic tee to green...just missed a few putts or he could be 5 under easily. Lot of great players under par right now as course is playing soft and relatively easy.

Another birdie!!!!

Very nice bounce back birdie....made a 15 footer to make up for the miss at 10. Hit iron off tee at 12 and has a wedge into green...Bubba and Angel both went for green...it was only 262.

just a par at #12 but its okay

Languid bogie--result of the tee shot at #10-has been PHIL's only error so far. He has played very very steady.

The putts bounce a bit here and you can't make everything but PHIL has been steady steady

This is the part where I stop watching... I can't take it....he was playing so beautifully before.

Phil is leaking oil...now has 40 plus yard bunker shot after a poor approach....man he needs to steady ship here quickly and maintain his focus he talks about. Reed at 4 under after long birdie at his 8th and DJ 3 under....lot of golf left but don't want to undo all he did on harder front nine.

Another bad shot...stringing too many together...will need to hole a putt now from deep-35-40 feet for par....lot of unforced errors right now and the few missed putts on front nine would have protected his position if he made them.

Man he just got way too aggressive with par...almost holed it but now 12 feet for bogey....he is really messing up things since he went conservative at 12 off the tee....could be leading and now going to be at least 3 off lead. Focus Phil!!!

Just a bogie which is huge but two in a row sting a little bit...he is 3 off lead now...hope he can string some pars and toss in a birdie or two...really should be at 3 under at least right now.

DJ now at 4 under thru 13 holes on front nine....Phil held his wedge too much and played it conservatively in at 16 to 18 feet. Maybe he can make one here?

If he misses the come back on this putt, I would like Phil to say out loud, "I'm such an idiot"

DJ now 5 under thru 15...he is keeping his round rolling...Phil was ahead of him at turn but one over on back nine has hurt.

Phil had shots at birdie at 16 and 17...both playing partners hit fairway at 18th...Phil in right bunker....needed to hit the fairway here...just not been on since he went conservative at 12...was flying high at 3 under looking for birdie there and made par and then back to back bogies stalled the round. Would be great if he can somehow birdie 18 and get back to 2 under.

Phil just lays up with 8 iron and has to rely on wedge and putter now. Really would like for him to stick it close and get a birdie finish here for good momentum going into tomorrow.

Great wedge to 7-8 feet for closing birdie which would be sweet!!!
