Masters 2019 3rd Round

and PHIL missed out on a scoring day on Friday. Only two guys in top 25 were over par. PHIL did not play poorly--he shot a 73 but he missed too many chances. Weak shots off the tee killed his round. Should have been a 68!!!

Look for back nine fireworks today as the pin placements look tough on the frontside but gettable on the back

Couple of fun facts

Yes PHIL played his 100th round at the Masters--The record is Gary Player with 164 rounds has the record. PHIL might not get there-2 more then year then needs 16 more finished tournaments (age 55) to get there. PHIL missed a year with a broken leg plus 3 missed cuts have hurt.

PHIL will likely get to 400 birds this year for his career at Augusta -he has 395 right. Plus he has 19 eagles (Floyd and Nicklaus) have 22 and 24 so lets go get some!!!

Wow, so many big name players jam-packing the leaderboard.... going to need excellent playmaking to win this thing.

Phil is putting so lightly that any nuance takes the ball off line. Did that for his 2 last putts for bogie and missed birdie.

Not getting any lucky breaks. Ie hole 5 on approach and 2 near chip ins.

PHIL had massive momentum until errant shot at #5 and a three putt

painful missed putt at #6

poor drive with an iron at #7 but got and up down from bunker--nearly another hole out

bunker off tee at #8--nearly okay-good chip at #8 but missed bird!!

Now PHIL needs a long putt to fall

Not gonna happen for him this week. Slightly off since the miscue at 5. Not making anything from 15-20 feet.

Phil!!!!  Missed chance at birdie on par-5 13th !!!!  Sorry Phil, but an eventual winner doesn't let such opportunities pass.  You letting too many slip by, ugh.  Could have putted it instead of chipping it, it's short cropped enough. Sometimes I think he does shots just to look impressive instead of contemplating the possible (bad) result.... like that chip off the edge, 15 feet from the pin with a full swing.

The miss at #13 was brutal!!!

PHIL over cooked his second shot at #13--it should have eagle time but you just have to be patient here--you can't force it---he forced it a bit at #14 and only got par

PHIL just has to get two more birdies coming in and play for a low score on Sunday/Monday

Woods is playing great, Kuchar just stuffs it and Phil in the hazard. One of the most disappointing rounds in a long time.

Driver is fine . Rest of game sucks. This is so sad. You get ur hopes up and he may be too far back to have a shot tomorrow.

Masters.com has Phil coverage as the featured group (every shot)... TV hardly showing him. Been watching more from my computer than TV. My Smart TV app sucks. Think maybe newer TV with more powerful computer power in TV, better apps may work better than my 5-year old Samsung 55"

His iron play has really been awful since the miss at 6. Another bad miss.

Well, he blew it this time... off the back of green, chipped up, lands short, and rolled back to his feet. Likely bogie.

It’s impressive he’s stayed relevant this long, but I just don’t think he’s ever going to win a major again. He hasn’t been in contention in a final round since the 2016 Open. You can tell he really wants it, and he just doesn’t have it (whether mentally, or in his game) to match the desire/moment.
