PHIL will be out early this morning--early for the Masters that is. He will be out mid morning and in a three some. The rain went through early this morning but its likely we will see a bit more rain today and on Saturday. The weather will likely be wild on Sunday so stay tuned

Phil better stock up on that gum he's chewing. I wonder if it's that 'relaxation gum' they have out now.
Scientific study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3158435/
Title: "Effect of Regular Gum Chewing on Levels of Anxiety, Mood, and Fatigue in Healthy Young Adults"
Abstract:
Introduction:
The effect of regular gum chewing on psychological status is unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of gum chewing for fourteen days on psychological status and physical and mental fatigue in healthy young adults.
Methods:
We assigned 50 volunteers randomly to an intervention group (n = 26) and a control group (n = 24). Participants in the intervention group were requested to chew the gum twice per a day for fourteen days. The volunteers were required to complete a questionnaire related to lifestyle for baseline assessment. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Profile of Mood State (POMS), the World Health Organization Quality of Life 26, and assessment of physical and mental fatigue by visual analog scale were used at baseline, 2 weeks (after intervention), and 4 weeks (follow-up).
Results:
At 2 weeks, the score of state anxiety was significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group. The intervention participants’ scores of depression-dejection, fatigue and confusion in POMS were better than the control group scores. Mental fatigue were also relieved after the intervention. At 4 weeks, there were no significant differences between both groups.
Conclusion:
Fourteen days’ gum chewing may improve the levels of anxiety, mood and fatigue.
Keywords: Gum, chewing, anxiety, mood, fatigue.

Ralph, have you used spikeless golf shoes yet? I got a pair for Christmas and was slipping in them, although the Bermuda is only now coming out of dormancy. I'll wait until the grass grows thick to reserve judgement, otherwise they may be delegated to being worn when mowing the lawn.

Nice birdie on hole 2, but Phil, using an iron off the tee on Hole 3 and you still put it in the trees/pinestraw on the right?

Wow, the top of the leaderboard looks like seasoned players, no rookies/amateurs up there.

Up and down after #2-- poor drives at 8-10-5 cost him bogies--stunning bird at #9--
needs an up and down at #11

Phil needs to head to driving range after today. Way too much stress for him to contend driving it in the trees all day.

Also tired of Jason Day having back issues and playing great. IMO he has his built in excuse if he plays poorly and is a trooper if he plays good.

Re: Masters 2019 2nd Round
One of the pundits on the Golf Channel was talking about Phil last night and said something like, for someone who's hitting it all over the map, wide right.....wide left..... he's salvaged it pretty good. I'm thinking, if you push the envelope too much, the bottom will eventually fall out from under you.
I've said for 6, 8, 10 years that PHILL NEEDS TO FIX HIS DANG DRIVER, and all he does is diddle with tinker toys... Phranken wood 3-wood, and other stuff.
Frustrating to see him close but because of driving, can't capitalize on anything.

Re: Masters 2019 2nd Round
A day of real missed chances today--- +1 was about as bad as he could have played today based on his shots.
Re: Masters 2019 2nd Round
Phil and Dechambaux only ones in top 25 players over pa, ugh, and in fairly benign conditions
