Nightmare day. Who cares if he makes the weekend at this point, no chance at contending.

Spieth made his 15 footer for par, so the cut will be +6

MC hammer. He hit it in the drink on 16 somehow
As I said after 8, WD. He had mentally given up. I saw it on his face

Looks like he won't break 80. Wet on 16.

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
he's also looking at shooting an 80
I hate to say it, he's finished. I don't see him recovering from this. He had built up so well for this tournament, only to do what he did today

This is really going to do a job on him mentally. It will get the focus off Erie Els now.

he has no business in the RC other than as a captain going forward.
I want to win it. I am tired of seeing Europe winning!

He really started losing it on 18 yesterday after the magnificent drive and then bogey?

A nightmare round, especially considering his results leading up to this event. I wouldn't write off the rest of the year yet, but I also wouldn't be shocked to see him struggle. Must be a massive let down.

He looked sick. Nobody expected it. Leishman looked like he was going to cry.
I am really bummed myself, as I had planned to watch Phil challenge the lead this week-end. Now who's the favorite to root for?

Think this is a symptom of age. Will have bad days like this.
I see this with increasing frequency when I watch Contador race these days as well

BOO HOO! Who's the new fav? I am afraid you're right. Days of brilliance and days of dispair. This was definitely the latter.

Spieth cannot possible putt any worse than he did today. He was as brutal as Phil with the putter

Phil is delusional
http://espn.go.com/golf/masters16/story/_/id/15166777/phil-mickelson-misses-masters-cut
It was not his ball striking. To paraphrase James Carville "IT'S THE PUTTING, STUPID!"
With decent putting, he finishes 3 over. Lost 4 shots on 8, 9, and 13

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
PHIL and Speith struggled with the putter today. I think the wind did something to greens as breaks did not take. PHIL missed a ton of putts today and wind certainly affected second sthots at 3 or 4 holes.
Just did not get it done.

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
I agree that Phi's often delusional. Not sure if you've seen these greens, but when you don't put the ball where it needs to be on the green, some of the putts are ridiculous. I saw enough missed 2 footers and less today to know that Phil was not the only one with the ball in the wrong places on the green. That may be what he's alluding to. He, of all people should know what these greens do. He certainly didn't execute, and he must be really disappointed. Maybe he can figure it out by the US Open, but I won't get quite as excited about it until it happens! Poor Stenson missed a bunch, too, but he made the cut!

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
his putt on 8 was dead straight. He flat out blocked pushed it. Cost him 2 shots
The putt on 9 he simply charged. It was back into the wind. Not very fast. 15 was stright up the hill. Pulled it badly
That is 4 shots just given away. Probably would have kept him more mentally in it had those went in. Likely would have finished around par.

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
How about backing it up into the water on the par 5. He should have known better than to do that. He was not in the game in his head or his golf bag. JMO I think it was 15. There's a picture of Phil, Amy, and his two younger children posing at the Par 3 contest on Wed. on pgatour.com website under the family pictures.

Re: Masters 2nd Round 2016
Fast greens and wind are no fun. I play Karsten Creek once/year, the Oklahoma St. Univ. course that Rickie played when he went here (my wife and I get a free 'play day' when we volunteer the Ping Invitational or one of the NCAA tournaments they may hold here). They maintain the greens at 12.8-13.0 stimp throughout the year, more for the benefit of the golf team as they don't care what members think about the speed (I'm faculty at the university and it would still cost me $325 to play....I can drive 65 miles and play the OU Sooners course, our in-state rivals for $60). My only comment after playing our free play day is "I'm glad I'm not a member, nor would I want to be....those are ridiculously fast, and I'm not so sure I'm anxious for next year's free play day to come". One of my first years I did an Ernie Els but not from 3 feet, I wished I got it within 3 feet, but seemingly kept going past the hole for 12-15 feet, lol, eventually picking it up and said to my wife, "that's enough, put me down for a 10" (after being greenside fringe in 2).
I have heard that ANGC runs like 13.5-14; has anyone heard what they are running this year?
