I would think that front bunker would be the perfect spot to make birdie. Just short left would be ideal, but that's a small opening. We saw Reed go long and had a hard time getting the 3rd shot close.

Shame he lipped out the putt. You know Taylor would have been nervous as hell in the playoff.

Well, that stinks but it was nice seeing Phil in contention on a Sunday. Hopefully we will see more of that this year.

That putt may be what keeps Phil out of the Olympics

Oh well, can't fault the great play of Vaughn Taylor today.  Lucky break he got with the hitting the other ball leaving his near the hole on that particular play, guy didn't even have tour status, got in I think on exemption, hadn't won in 11 yrs, all sorts of demons in his head.  But Phil....oh well, 2nd place, T-3rd, T-11th, good stuff man.

He still has work to do on his driving....all over the place it seems.

The23 /23 made that was put on screen is the kiss of death. You can't shoot even par on Sunday and win. He fought hard.hope he rebounds.

Phil really cared today. I can't help but think that his new swing thoughts, and other changes are just not there yet. If this is what's to come this year, I am a believer. Great stuff--this win allows Vaughn Taylor to feed his family, they said. He's been on hard times. His wife couldn't quit crying. Phil didn't have enough today to win, but he's playing so much better than in the past. Reminds me of many disappointments in the past. Not sure I'm up for all of this excitement! Thing is, he hit a good putt on the last hole.

A 2nd and 3rd place in four starts so far this year-- I can't really complain about that and I'm hopeful that this good play will translate into victory soon. He hasn't won in two years, so getting that first win will be the hardest. And it's even harder to do when someone else gets really hot (which seems to always happen when Phil is about to win lol). Four weeks of play in a row has been good for him, and now he's used to being in the lead again. You can tell he thinks more, presses more, and tenses up more when the win is dangling in front of him (which is a common occurrence among golfers in general). But this tournament should help him get back into that winning mentality-- ie. being able to take the nervous final round energy and turn it into positive energy. A shame about the lip out at the end. But at least he was still in it on the 72nd hole. He's on the right track.

Anybody know when he plans on playing next?  I figure after playing 4 tourneys in a row, that he will take 2-3 weeks off.  Hopefully it isn't too long though, he needs to continue playing competitive golf as much as possible to sharpen his game.

Without a doubt I wanted Vaughn over anyone else. Alot of the leaders shot -1/E/+1 etc.. He got the break he needed on 15 and took advantage of it,. Nice to see someone WIN it and that Phil didn't totally LOSE it. He hung in there when he didn't have his best stuff and kept it interesting. He could have easily shot 76/77 today and fought for a 72..

Thanks. While I don't want him to burnout too early in the season, I think playing as much as possible is the best way for his new swing changes to become consistent.

I think Phil is just taking one week off, then playing Honda and Doral

Isn't he playing Riviera?... I saw where he signed up for the Honda.

PHIL is playing Honda Classic and then WGC Cadillac at Doral.
