At his press conference, Brooks was pissed at what happened to him as the crowd surrounded him. He said he was hit by a couple of people in the knee and insinuated it could of been on purpose. He said Fowler was able to help him in the crowd. Said Ricky got hit in the face.

What an amazing week! I always believed that Phil could break the record of oldest major champion and play well into his 50s, especially given his strong work ethic. No matter how he's playing in the weeks/months prior, he's always capable of turning it on at any moment. Never give up!!

So glad to see Phil fans still here posting and supporting him! I only lurk here now but used to be more active on an earlier version of the Phil forum and have never stopped supporting our guy.

What a story. I hope he takes in everything and enjoys this. Phil has worked so hard to keep himself in shape to give himself a chance to have a magical week like this. Incredibly deserving winner.

Today was great....this major is better than 5 wins on regular PGA Tour schedule

Interesting....on Sundays I've been playing with a group of 'older' guys from the white tees (instead of my normal blue tees) who I'm considered the 'long driver' of the group, lol.  But there's one guy that has even a little lower handicap than me and hits comparable to me but I outdrive him a lot.  One of the main reasons is my launch angle is almost half? of his....he hits drives that are over the tree tops, whereas mine are maybe half-tree height and I curve (draw) the ball through the fairway....that gives the ball a lot of run and its nice.  (I've already got my Epic Callaway driver set at 10.5* + 1* loft = 11.5-degreess; I think during my drives, my body drifts forward through the ball, often doing the Gary Player 'walk-through' on my drives, that is squaring the club face and delofting? rather than staying behind the ball and hitting on an upswing).

So, I saw a video clip of Brandel asking Phil if he hit any 'bombs' today and Phil went through a few of them and he said "basically I hit low drives and they run for ever" (or something like that), which makes me feel better about my own predicament (the last time I played with my group I agonized at hitting low driver shots....maybe I should accept that the roll out gives me distance :-)

Whenever I pull my drive or any shot for that matter--either a little bit or a lot it goes further and tends to have a lower trajectory! I know some long hitters rely on a controlled fade but I get more distance but drawing a ball and that tends to run further down the course.

Phil was answering tweets through the night. He is on top of the world.

I did see some additional footage or camera angles on the activity on the 18th green. PHIL really did at the end have to push his way through the crowd. There were people trying to stop the rush but it was a mob scene. I note that Brooks let PHIL go ahead-the traditional way the leader walks up to the last green and he was really in the crowd. Crowd control fell apart a bit at the end there! Younger more active crowd then at Augusta!!

As for Brooks, he showed one thing. He cannot play a road game. If I were a Ryder Cup captain, I'd have his ass stapled to the bench in Europe

I saw that Workday is a sponsor for the Memorial this year--I wonder if that means PHIL is going back to Ohio?

Yeah, Brooks was whining about getting hit in the knee by fans as if he had gotten whacked with a baton by Tonya Harding. It seemed like he was trying to use his knee/crowd distractions as an excuse for how he played. I doubt most of the crowd knew he had a knee injury or would intentionally try to hit him, there were just really really excited about Phil. One fan got his arms around Phil at one point and it was almost scary how easily the fans could access the players. They really were unprepared for that size of a crowd. But it was so cool to see such a huge number of people wanting to get a glimpse of Phil.

I'm just glad the golf gods were on Phil's side yesterday and not Brooks. So many times when Phil's been in a position to win a major, the magic moment would go to someone else, but yesterday worked out beautifully.

Some crowd!! Was this a Men's only event??? Yes I saw some females but the young and younger male fans jumped the ropes--charged the green.

I will say this--In 2013 PHIL was denied the fan mob scene at Muirfield. He was so far ahead of the others --there were still 4 groups out behind him. Who knows if anyone would have catches him? It was unlikely but you only get the mob scene-if you do get it-with the last group!! What a crowd!
