I don't see Phil making 4 bridies in 7 remaining holes, so I guess he's missing the cut, currently T-106. I think that article where he is saying "I fixed my driving" was his demise, self-afflicted jinx, open mouth-insert-foot.

Just got back from La Quinta . Talked to Andrew Getson who followed PHIL FOR THE First 2 Rounds I was there. Phil has been practicing hard and is very frustrated. ..not scoring well and Andrew said very anxious about west coast swing. Getson said if he can just get that next win he feels he will win again. He has had a lot of xtra stuff to do being ambassador. We have heard all this before so if Phil doesn't at least contend on west coast he will be bummed out for sure.

The first 2 rounds Phil hit 10 /14 fairways both days . Irons weren't close. No consistent play. Don't know what to think. Must be the pressure of competition. I believe him when he says he's been playing well heading in.

When I read that Phil saying "he's fixed his driver woes", that's when I knew he jinxed himself. Just shut up and let the score tell it, and if it doesn't, then he doesn't have egg on his face.

Well, we'll see how far Phil has fallen, if any, next week in comparison with Tiger.  If Tiger comes back and dusts him, then that would be embarrassing. With all the rain they've had in California, they should be lush with deep rough....accuracy off the tee (onto fairways) will pay premiums, imo. The last thing you want is for Phil to have a career ending like Ernie Ells, missing cuts left and right and then an occasional make cut. At least he doesn't have to rely on world ranking to make it to Augusta.

LOL, you've kept a good sense of humor. I know end-of-an-era/end-of-careers never are great, but some are downright painful. I hope this isn't one of them, then again a slow-bleed like Fred Couples could be so exasperating to fans. I held onto Freddy for so long hoping he'd win another. His final win on PGA tour, I think was the Shell Houston Open, and he cried like a baby in the on-course interview.

Well, they've really jinxed him! I have about had it! He's paired with Rose again! for the next tournament.
