Arnie's Memorial
Really nice that the team was able to be represented and bring the Ryder Cup trophy to Arnold's service....and Phil really looks dapper in that dark suit, pink tie (works for me).

I wonder where Tiger was ? He gave a long interview last week about how close they were?

Good question. Arnie was always there for him, he said. They said the pink tie was for Arnie--not Phil's usual kind of tie. It was a very touching service, I thought. Glad that those guys showed up.

I was thinking that myself....I can only imagine if he was there they would have shown him, if not in isolated photos, then in the videos....but nada. I can't believe he did not show up at the memorial service, after winning his tournament so many times you'd think he would have shown up just from that aspect?

Re: Arnie's Memorial
here is a Phil question asked of David Ferherty.
Was this Phil Mickelson's Ryder Cup because he put his neck on the line?
Yeah, I think he did. Phil says what comes into Phil's head. He owns it. He's an iconic figure in the game. He is sort of the modern-day Arnold Palmer where he spends so much time with the crowd. He signs autographs. He goes for everything. He takes risks. He's a star, an absolute star in every way.
What do you say to the people who say he's a big phony?
I hear it occasionally. In 25 years of knowing him, I've never seen that. There's a certain amount of professional jealousy out there and resentment because he does make other players look mean-spirited when they walk past and don't sign anything. Phil takes those 45 minutes at pretty much every event. I don't see anything phony about him.

I could post 100 articles about PHIL and the Ryder Cup--high stakes gamble but it paid off.
