As I go home for lunch, I hear Sirius XM PGATour talking about Phil hitting it well off the tee, putting it nicely, but in between (approach shots), not so well. I turn the TV on and he zings one on a par3 behind/right and on a hill and then leaves it short on the fringe with a soft lofted shot...bogie. Now Phil hits it in the tall fescue on another par3, ugh...

Geesh, hit it through the green and into back greenside bunker.... needs up-and-down for bogie....hits it to 6 feet.

Phils getting tired and he has 19 holes left. Hope he can dig deep . Gotta make the cut then anything goes

another bogey at 9, Phil finishes +4. He is obviously still in it as E par or even something over par could win, but it is hard to envision Phil getting back in this thing after how he struck the ball in that round

Mental fatigue. He said 9th was toughest he hit an awesome lag putt and bogey.

12/14 fairways which should mean a super round but his second shots were not great. Putting was tough for PHIL because he out of position all day after his second shots.

Needs a 66 or 67 this afternoon.

36 holes in one day on a USOPEN setup is too much.even with the 3 delays on day 1 I still think afternoon/morning got the bad end of the draw. That's golf I know but JMO

But Phil was messing up on the first 18 holes though.

I watched a bit of Sergio and Dustin....and they played super. I thought Sergio had the better ball striking on approach shots.

Phil shot a 40 on his back nine...was T7 and 1 under at turn and now is T66 and will need a solid round to make the cut. His driving and putting were good but the irons cost him all of his bogies.

DJ looked really solid with the first US Open round since 94 to not have a bogie.

Wow, Dustin J tied for lead... If Phil can't win, I wouldn't mind DJ or Sergio...the young kids have had enough wins amongst themselves already.

OK, Phil par'd 2 holes he bogied ealier, hope that helps the mental state of things. I know it would be somewhat satisfying to me.

They just said on 'live' for DJ, that it's to his advantage to keep on playing when you're playing well, and not so when you're not.

Phil is hitting fairways but he is too far back.his approaches aren't close IF he hits the green. Might better use driver and take your chances.

Just read on twitter phil did stretching and balancing exercises of 4th tee box.

They also sang happy birthday as he walked off 4th tee box

I know it's a hard call, but if Phil can get back to even or +1 after this round, I think he'll still be in it.
