BMW 2015 3rd round
PHIL found four hazards on Saturday and considering that fact he scored about as well as he could.
PHIL needs a good round this morning.

Hole #1, 5 ft for birdie.....and..... he misses !! Gee whiz Phil, can't make 5 footers? Sorry to tell you this, but you're not going to Korea unless as an 'assistant captain' (or spectator).

Ralph you are a week early the BMW is in 2 weeks.
Phil stiffs it to inside 6 feet and missed birdie putt. Hope this isn't a preview of the day.

I know Phil says he wants to be on the team but I don't think I can stomach seeing him play and putt this poorly. Can you imagine if he does get picked over the younger guys and plays poorly. He will be tarred and feathered in the press 10 times over.
He should have been birdie birdie start today.

Re: BMW 2015 3rd round
I hope he gets his 'game straightened out' for next year....it will only get worse. Lots of players fair pretty well and are much shorter off the tee than Phil. If he can control his drives, he might be able to put himself on more greens and closer to the proximity of the flag....that should account for better scoring overall. His putting, don't know why he misses so many 'makeable putts'. I've said this before, with all the technology that is out there, is he miss reading putts or is his putting stroke a bit off/twisted, turning?... use those fandangled laser deals with computer read back of putter heads to see if his alignment/stroke are off. I remember my son taking golf lessons from Bill Glasson, ex-PGATour, current Champions Tour Player....currently out with injuries/surgery (he offered to give lessons at our/his country club during some down-time he had with injuries)....I see Bill with his golf cart full of stuff and a big battery to plug his high speed video camera, his laptop, etc. He said, "I don't know how people look at swings with their 'eyes' and say they see this, that, and the other as a swing is so fast (unless it is grossly wrong)..... I prefer to have the higher resolution of slow motion and pin-point problems with more definition". [Bill is a very cool guy, down to earth, would stop and talk to you when you bump into him in Walmart, etc].
Is Phil getting that kind of assessment from Butchie, Pelz, and Stockton?

Re: BMW 2015 3rd round
Here's an example....Phil had 253 yrds to the pin, and instead of putting the ball in the fairway in front of the green and give a more accurate chip on 3rd shot to make birdie, he goes for it, lands in bunker, and wow, lands 6 ft from the pin and still misses the putt. I was going to say, he could have chipped it close and make birdie, but I guess I wouldn't expect him to get it any closer, but you can't keep missing 5-6 foot putts.

Re: BMW 2015 3rd round
Needs to get his eyes and his alignment checked, imo. I can putt better than that, really.

Pelz had the stupid idea of using one stroke for outside 10 or 15 ft and another for inside 10 ft. Phil tried it and then stopped...no results. IMO Stockton was a distant memory until Phil used him in 2009 and won and then Stocktons phone started ringing off the hook. Think Stickton is over rated too.
bulls, you make a good case for technology today and Phil supposedly into that scientific stuff should be eating it right up. Don't know why he doesn't.

He is actually driving the ball pretty good this front 9, just not converting putts.
