Fortinet Championship
Phil shot 2-under (70) and is currently tied for 34th place after the first round. Chez Reavie shot 7-under (65) and is the current leader with some golfers still out playing.
Would be nice if Phil can make the cut and finish in the top-10.

Re: Fortinet Championship
oops I saw PHIL and did not do a post-solid enough -2 for PHIL
Yes his agent's management company runs this event-so PHIL showed up!

Phil played 'ok'. Nice to make the cut. Wish he could have gotten to -6 though. Some names didn't make the cut though (Champ in his group, Rahm, others).

Re: Fortinet Championship
PHIL played pretty decent--good enough for him to sub if someone withdraws from Ryder cup?

Re: Fortinet Championship
5 birdies in a row. Could have been 6 if he could have birdied the last par 5.
He had 2 short misses today but hey I'll take it. Hopefully the lead will be in reach for tomorrow

Re: Fortinet Championship
Would like to see Phil get a 'Top-5' and if the stars/moon align, even possibly a win? But there's a lot of younger players but not many with the experience he has at the top...Jim Knous, Maverick McNealy, Max Homa, Stallings, Periera, Merritt, Hossler, Gooch, Simpson....not much wins among them (Simpson has most among those other than Phil), so perhaps they wilt under pressure? He said he had a cracked 2 wood and that's why some of his shots were squirrelly going left or right yesterday; do they even make 2-woods?...does Callaway make that special for Phil? Is that like the old "3-deep" (3 wood with tall face) that he used to use and was commercialized for a while.

His 2 wood is actually made by Taylormade. He had the TM Original One previously and now believe he has the 300 Mini Driver they just released. Technically it's a driver but its a small head @ 11 degrees I believe.
