Desert Classic 4th round 2019
and PHIL is back. In a controlled effort he played bogie free golf on Saturday. He needed a clutch par putt or two but he made them. He missed 4 or 5 birdie putts that were killers but he had 14 or so birdie putts. You can't make them all? He made 6 birdie putts and missed 8. Five of them fairly close in. That's golf.
I know everyone saw the highlights so one can only hope that PHIL ads to them today!!

I noticed a different logo(writing under the Callaway arch) on Phil's golf ball yesterday and had to do some research. It's a new ball Callaway is releasing next month called ERC and they come with the 3 lines on the golfball. Besides some short putts, it certainly seems to help him line up better. He also said he was going to bomb away, so should be a fun afternoon of golf....

This one? I hadn't noticed. I like a big thick line on both sides of the text line, at least 1.5-inches on both sides.... helps me identify my ball no matter how it's lying in the grass :-). I've always used the big, thick line and thought it helped (maybe in my mind it did), but last year I got lazy and putted regardless of how the line was positioned and still putted well, so I'm not sure (for me), if the line helps or not.... maybe if you think it does, then that's all you need.

Haha.... kind of like when I retrieve a ball from the water and offer it to my wife and she looks at me and says, "you want to give me a ball that has a preference for water, no thanks?"

Let's go Phil!! I mean a 2-shot lead isn't much, but it's still a 2-shot lead!! Now it's really only a 6-man tournament (surely now one lower than -16 will have a chance?). Hadwin will be playing the same course and under pressure, let's do it!! What a great start to the year to possibly win again like last year!

They seem to be calling that 'Triple Track' for improved Alignment
I don't know what's happened with golf balls.... these 'soft' balls are reported to be ~35 compression and I remember with ProV1's were 90+ compression and amateurs were supposed to be 80-compression.... then someone came out with the soft 50-compression.... but these are saying 'the longest ball'? So how do you get long from being really soft?

Would love to see a stress free round. Standing on the 18th with a 2 shot lead would be nice. Phil's bombing strategy has me nervous but it's been fine so far. Getting a win 1st time out will be so great for Phil and the rest of the season. Phil said when you start with a 60 then anything short of a win would seem like a failure. I don't necessarily agree with that but I'm sure he's going to be feeling the nerves.

My dad would do some work for Jay Sigel(noted amateur and Senior Tour player). I remember when he gave me a dozen Titleist Professional 100 compression golf balls from his stash. Weird to think compression has gone the opposite with all these multi layered golf balls.

Crap, I didn't realize they're all playing together....so basically it's a 3-way match play, but watch out from others in the rear.

Gooch, I like the prospect of a local product doing well on PGA, but not this week please....you're young enough you can make it up later. Let's go Phil!!

Tired of everyone making birdies and then Hadwin and Long make decent long par putts..

Hadwin doesn't miss.
I criticized Phill too soon with that iron shot. Amazing birdie.
