Announcers are questioning PHILS club selection on almost every hole. He's been using irons off the tees even when they are pretty wide and still missing. Im getting tired of Phil playing shots for next week excuse....if thats what this is all sbout. Finally made a birdie to get under par and follows with a bogey. Very discouraging.

He's been on a tear playing golf from Ryder Cup Venue to Open Venue to practice round here. 3 different courses in 3 days. With the time change and travel, old boy's gotta' be feeling' tired!

Like he said about his recent string of gaffs.... "it's his own doing", no pitty here for playing so much, his own choice to do so.  Playing the Ryder Cup venue is a bit premature given his streak of bad play lately. I like the offering about him and Tiger playing that match.... loser goes on to be assistant at the Ryder Cup, yea, I like that, now that's something that you can't put a price on the worth of for each of them.

Looks likely a MC. Probably a good thing. If he makes the cut he probably won't be in contention so might as well practice for next week and rest a bit.

Plan should be the same as Shinnecock final round 2004. That;s how firm and fast Carnoustie is playing. Greens though are slow, but the plan is he make them fast.

Could see a week similar to Murifield when Phil won where the greens were running at times well above 15
