Good drive on 1st tee (not sure if it's 10th), but hits the fairway and just dribbles onto the 1st cut on the right, sitting up nicely.

They have slowed the greens to no more than 10 Stimp scale in anticipation of the winds.

Leaders = -3
1st Hole:
Jaydee  - birdie
Lowry - bogie
Phil - par

playing in the wind like this is bad enough but the announcers are questioning Phils decisions in these conditions.
Next week they are saying rain and wind with cool temperatures.
going to be a very tough 2 weeks for Phil. Even more reason to be bummed out about the lost opportunities early in the season.

Ack, just watched Phil miss a 3-foot putt after Lowry makes one from 6-7 feet...bogie... to +2

Saw Patrick Reed hit a shot from on a grassy hillside that dribbled down below him and he slid about 4-5 feet, almost on his butt as he tried to climb down.

Phil now +4 and T-99, doesn't look good unless he has a miraculous round tomorrow.

Phil is +4 and currently would need to get to +2 to make the cut, so he will have to do at least -2 tomorrow, but.... there are currently only 10 people today who went -2 or better, so the likelihood of that happening are slim or nill, imo.  I hope he does, but I think he'll be at Troon a bit earlier than he expected.

I actually thought that he played pretty well today in these tough conditions. Hope his draw gets the reverse tomorrow.
