Waste Management Open (2018) - Round 1

Looks like Phil is off at 7:56am (8:56 CST?) with Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele.  Ugh, Jon has been ripping it lately.  I think this is a course that Phil likes, few trees.  Just don't get behind a cactus bush.

2nd hole???, water along the left side to 485-ish yrd par-4 :

Rahm:   Drive = 329 yrd, 155 yrds to hole   => 11 ft to flag  => par
Xander: Drive = 329 yrd, 155 to the hole    =>  6 ft to flag   => par

Phil:  Drive = 242 yrds, 242 yrds to the hole??  =>  58 ft to flag => BOGIE (missed 6 ft putt)

Playing a bit conservative?  Well, that didn't work.

Bogie on 11 and followed by three birds--PHIL lives!!!

LOL, I go for a meeting and come back and see Phil makes 3 birdies.  I'm calling another meeting in 5 min with my grad students.... let the run continue!!

I just finished a short meeting and have another.... hope that brings another birdie.

Ah, near misses. This is another one of those -20 to -25 tournaments, need -5/-6 per round for 4 rounds to be in the mix.

Come on Phil, can't keep missing puts in the 8-12 ft range!!!!! Ughhhhhh

-1 ughh, not going anywhere with that score. Leaders in first wave are -5. Need at least -5/round just to keep up.
