Oakmont is a pretty simple course. You just have to be precise and accurate doing three things
1st accurate off the tee(the fairways will be narrow and the rough is nasty)
2nd precise with your second shot or your shot to the par threes. You must be below the hole and or on the right side of the greens.
3rd Putt well as the greens will be fast and they greens have some slopes in them. The good news is that rain looks likely on Wednesday and Thursday and that could slow things down.
Ironically the four par threes holes could be hyper critical for PHIL> Plus PHIL needs to putt like a champ. Like he did this week!!!

Play Oakmont....I play this free online golf game and although the putting kills me, it gives you a sense of knowing the course and fairly realistic. Oakmont is one of the available courses.

Actually, the course flyover tour allows you to play the World Golf Tour site hole without signing up (click "play this hole" on upper left on each hole).

I got a par on Hole #1 (you have to consider the wind direction...can drag the triangle towards pin to change shot direction, and on my approach, I had 171 to the pin and they had a hybrid in my hands that was rated for 190, so I switched to a 3-iron, hit it a bit off (did not release the mouse exactly on the white bar) and hit short but rolled up on the green pin high....then putted to the left of the left-right breaking green and ended up 2 feet away. The greens really give you a feel for how they break....I would definitely play these courses online if I was ever going to play them in real life or watch a tournament....you feel you 'know the holes'.

I checked the tv coverage, and tomorrow at 6am, FS1, they're showing Payne reigns, and then more US Open--I think it said 2007 before the preliminaries. For a change, I get that channel on cable, and also then at 5, Fox carries it and I think Phil will run into the channel change with his round. Some of the guys are out really early, so I am glad that Phil can sleep in and plays later. Loved the way he deflected the questions about his legal troubles. Truly hope it's gone away!
