Couldn't get to the green on 3, came up 40 yards short. Good pitch leaves a five footer for a par.

Phil has said before that it is the back where you score at Pebble. His play seems to have vindicated his thoughts. They're not playing from the US Open tees, so most of the back 9 holes had wedges, except for the par 3s

A par at #2 stinks and a bunker at #3 is not so great.
Let's go PHILLLLLLLLL

Fairway bunker on 4. Really scrambling to make pars on the easy holes.

Phil has let his good play go to his head and making some bad choices on this front 9. He still has 8 and 9 to finish which are tough.

bunkers on 1-2-3-4 have been yucky
yes yes there is wind. It is not ideal out there.

It has been a long time since heading into a Sunday that Phil has a legit shot at winning a tournament.

Great 66. Phils short game saved him. He is firing on all cylinders

Par on 9 to finish off a 66. Nine for nine scrambling today. Short game was superb.

Great putting day.
He needs to not have a repeat of last Sunday with the putter though. Think 3 under gets the win

SUPER ROUND!!! I thought this morning, Phil will need to get to -15 to have a shot, even if that isn't the lead he would likely be within striking distance....but -16 and 2-shot lead, yahoooo!!

I was at the Symphony today and kept checking my phone for scores whenever I could. Now I am enjoying a shortened rerun on TGC. Been since 2013 that Phil's had the 54 hold lead. Great tournament to build on whatever happens. Wonder how Spieth and DJ like going off on the 10th tee on Sun. Hoping beyond hope that Phil can keep it together. Glad that his am partner will be playing with him again.

Re: Pebble Beach 3rd Round 2016
I just finished watching the re-broadcast and can't believe the difference in the announcing on TV (Nick Faldo/Peter Kostis) vs Sirius PGA Tour Radio with Albers?.
Nick mostly negative on Phil...'hitting it all over the park, only hit 4-5 fairways', 'did he just shank that bunker shot?' and Kostis calling him Bunker Phil for being in so many bunkers.
Then there's the mostly positive guys on the radio...."Phil in the bunker, don't think he's got a great shot at the flag and I see him going a little chip to in front of the green to attack the pin from there" (then Phil hits a low wedge that checks up and makes the 4 footer for par). Unbelievable difference between the two broadcasts.
Please Phil get another major so you can have just as many as 'sir Nick'.

I just hope that he doesn't want it so much that he can't play freely. Whatever happens it's great and puts him in this place before the majors and should help prepare him.

I heard the Faldo thing also. If you watched #3, you could tell he was chipping out for the angle. If you watched #4, you could tell he wasn't trying to get back to the pin. He had a bad angle and if he went long, he was dead(or even in the ocean).. Looked like Phil played aggressive, but once he was in alittle trouble, then played it smart for par..
