steady pars for 1st three holes--

This extra distance off the tee is all fine and dandy but the accuracy is less than 50 % and a negative net gain on the field.

Spectacular 2nd shot on 16th only to 3 putt for bogey. 2 3 putts in first 7 holes a d pars on the 2 par 5s.

Hmmm.... missed a 4-ft putt on 13 and not sure by ShotTracker what the heck he did on 16? Looks like he was in deep/right, comes straight out towards fairway, then back straight where he came from to the right? ShotTracker makes no sense.

He's been escaping like Houdini from some not great ball positions. Eventually, that catches up to you if you don't throw birdies into the mix.

Only reachable par 5 of the 3 and hes in the water. Been very disappointed in this round. The new driver is no better than the last one.

Like I said, he's playing like Houdini, escaping from precarious positions.  Let's go Phil!!, 9 ft for birdie!! OK, I guess not.

He's getting lapped here... was at T-17, now still Even and T-28th. Afternoon waive is about to hit.

Less than 50% of fairways isnt getting it done. Two 3 putts and all pars on par 5s. Not good. I just hope the afternoon doesnt go crazy and he gets it together tomorrow.

I saw his stats somewhere in an article, and it had that same very stat, <50% of fairways (rated 200+th on PGA tour), and it mentioned his greens were much higher indicating his ability to land his iron shots. But yes, he has never ever 'fixed his bad driving stats'.

Decent enough round--even par--needed to make more putts!!
