Bunker and bogie at the start. Starting to wonder if Phil let Bones go because he knew he wasn't going to play as many tournaments anymore and was giving Bones the opportunity to make more money, since it seems like Phill's only playing Majors and with little preparation as well. Much like Freddy recommending to LaCava that he go with someone on the PGA tour, like Tiger, who could make him more money. I don't think Phil will play Champions Tour events; he certainly isn't anything like Langer who is driven to play.

Oh well, +2 thru 3, good thing there is no cut in this thing.  Kind of like playing the Champions Tour; maybe he should consider.

Misses green from 105 yrds after a 350 yd in fairway. Terrible chip Now another tester for par. His 1st 9 holes look horrible. I read he told Stricker he was going to make team on points. REALLY?

President's Cup?.... Did he make it on points last time or was he Captain's Pick? At some point, they might just want to go with 'young blood', and especially if he is separated by 3-4 players from the last automatic position. As far as next Ryder Cup, it looks like he will be falling further down the list if he continues this approach to playing.

Last Pres cup he was a pick he was ranked 29th I believe. He played great that week so it worked out. Now he is 17th so he needs some high finishes. I'm shocked how bad he looks. They are showing it live online tape delay in the afternoon tv coverage.

Don't know what happened on the par5, but looked like he was just off the green in 2 and 100 ft from the hole and then for 3rd shot shanks it left (?) and still off the green and 40+ feet from the hole...par.

Now he on par3 3rd hole, missed birdie from 7 feet.

Don't you think after at least 1 Captain's pick, they're gonna maybe get the feeling like "let's get some new/young blood in here?", especially for those that might be expected to play in possibly many more Cups? whereas Phil is on his last leg of possible Cups?

I agree with the young blood but I read 5 out of the 10 guys at this point on the team have not ever been on any team events. So I guess that will bode well for Phil. Pains me to say it but I was thinking around Phils 3 year drought I hope the British wasn't his swan song and now we are at 4 years no wins.
