Wel, at least 2 of the last 3 holes which lipped out and could have dropped.

And in Palm Springs, I believe Phil was the birdie leader for 36 holes...except he also had a lot of bogies too.

He needs to go minimum of -1 in the next 4 holes, -2 to be safe.

Crap, another bogie. This is going to be a repeat of 2014. Now he needs 2 birdies in the last 3 holes.

I felt sorry for him when he said he didn't know what he'd do if he couldn't get his putting back. Beyond pathetic, is what he said.

Phil needs to change his mind and play Pebble. He needs to keep playing, not take a vacation.

I agree.... he is going to regress backwards with several weeks off. He never, ever seems to come prepared at the start of a season, I have never understood that. I think good players just play....when you start doubting yourself is when your head gets filled with 'voices' that screw up your shots. Not much different than when people say they are too technical and have all these technical things running through their head before a shot and you hear them say, I'm playing better because I just went out there and played without thinking about my swing. Same with Tiger....all that is going on must be like voices in his head with multiple echoes reverberating in his skull.

I'm not sure Pebble is the place to get your putting back

I doubt that he'll play, as he's taking time off to be with his kids over their spring breaks. That is one of his dilemmas. He wants the time with his family, but needs the time on the course for real events. He's lost confidence in his putting stroke. Hate to sound like him, but many of his putts were either struck too hard, or were barely off. It could be something simple, and knowing him, he'll try to figure it out. On the late news it said it was the first time since 1992 that he has missed consecutive cuts. Not a good thing! He mainly cares about the majors, and at this rate, he won't make the cuts there either. Last year's Masters was a mess.

Its too late to commit to pebble but he could play Riveria. I doubt it because of all the hoopla of it being his turn to accommodate his kids schedule. Maybe Amy will talk him into Riveria. I recall when they cut short an italy vacation because he needed reps. Just read Micells golfweek article and Phils 2013 putting stats we ere awesome.

From the articles I've read during the week-end, the concensus is that there's a changing of the guard (really?) but that Phil's chances of being relevant are greater than Tiger's. Phil should have his occasional periods of greatness and times when he competes----hope that's true. Tough getting older and staying healthy.

I don't know... he makes too many bogies. Imagine, the winning score was no higher than the 36-hole lead, actually, 1 less I believe.

I don't believe it boils down to just putting. I've always contended back when he was radar-like iron approach shots, that when he misses fairways he had little change of getting close to the green. Now that he's driving better, his iron play has been lacking, still can't get it close to the hole. He needs to improve that and putt well.

I think he's nearing the end of his run. If I continue to watch golf, I'll need to pick a back up to root for when he's not in the mix or when he isn't playing or stops playing. Nobody moves the needle like he's done. I was glad that Jason Day won yesterday. Still haven't forgiven Holmes for beating Phil in the playoff. I like Fowler, but he can't close the deal. Good player though. Speith is hot and cold, but he missed the cut. The thing about Phil is that he was good enough that he was usually near the top, and his way of play has made him exciting to root for. Not sure who the next big American player will be. Lots of young talent out there. Jimmy Walker must be nearly 40. Steady, but not very exciting to watch. I think you're right on about Phil, Bulls.

Re: Farmers 2nd Day 2015
I know what you mean, when Phil is in the tournament, I'll try and watch each round....when he misses the cut, I sometimes don't bother to watch the remaining rounds, or perhaps turn on to the last hour of sunday to catch the end. It was interesting this last weekend with people trying to make the playoff and then 4 people in the playoff.
Just curious....what happens if 6 people are in a playoff?....do all 6 go out together because what you choose to do (shot to play) may depend on what you see your competitors play....if half of the playoff competitors are in another group behind or ahead, it is hard to make that kind of judgement?

There was one crazy playoff and Allenby was in it. Terrible weather and lots of golfers. I think they played together, but am not sure. My recollection was that there were lots of balls out there. LOL I don't watch much if Phil isn't playing, either.

I agree with the guy in this video saying "Phil put in more time in this off season than he has in prior years....and if he keeps putting this type of effort without getting anything out of it, it can be very demoralizing", which was plainly shown on Phil's demeanor regarding his 'pathetic putting' comments.

I asked the pro yesterday when I played golf about the # of people who teed off at the same time in a sudden death stroke play tournament and he said that indeed they all teed off together, so 6 at a time on the same tee it would be. I think it's happened twice on the PGA Tour.
