Phil to -7.. PBP is messed up. I figure he got a free drop but PBP shows it as an actual shot.

Long birdie try on 17. Ball just misses rolling down ridge

Still laughing on that one. Lol lolomiller315 wrote:j58golf wrote:At this point all I want for Mothers Day is for Phil to finish the last 3 in par at WORST. Is that asking for too much. Lol
Did you ever exchange cell #'s with him? Text him and tell him you want him to play the final 3 in -3

Nice to see Phil bounce back but sure wish he wouldn't have those big mental errors, like on #16 & #18 yesterday.

Rory only parred 15 to stay -7 with Phil. Phil is in the fairway with 205yd to go on 18

Round of 66. 18th hole was his downfall but so glad he bounced back today he really needed that. Hope it holds up for a top 5

Still not sure how he putted it off #8, but even that would have been too little too late.. Rory just birdied 16.. Seems like we would need too many guys to falter for Phil, but glad to see he ended with good mojo

Electrical wire keeps Rory ball from rolling in creek on 18th. Yesterday Phil hits spectator and it rolls in. Rory will probably save par now and bea t Phil.

Can you imagine if somehow it is Phil vs Rory in a playoff.. I still can't see 3 guys at -9 all losing 2 strokes, but you never know.

Looks like -9 will win it or force a playoff. Poor Phil he needed a double on 18 instead of Quad. Crazy game .

Re: Wells Fargo round 4
Good turn around, but hard to believe a more respectable 18th hole yesterday could have put him in the winners seat.

Maybe if he'd been nearer the lead he wouldn't have played with such freedom. It wasn't a win but an awesome tournament for Phil. After Saturday, I didn't dream of this round although I knew that a top 10 eas doable.

I think he gains on Reed regarding Ryder Cup points. Really want him to get in outright, not leaving it to Captain's Pick.

Golf is funny... James Hahn misses the prior 8-consecutive cuts, and goes on to win this one.
Saw the replay on Rory's ball...amazing how it didn't go in the water and can only imagine if the spectator wasn't there for Phil's 3rd round #18 ball, it may have stayed dry, perhaps only a bogie.

Luck definitely plays a part, both good and bad. Strange that Hahn kept it together even through the playoff. Phil's performance shows the guts that he has after the quad to end Sat., that he was able to come out and shoot that score was great. I think that some of the mistakes were being in an impossible place with the greens at 15--unbelievably fast--and having no way to keep a ball on the green. Wish he could keep the ball in the fairway, but some of his worst shots were from the fairway. He's had way more practice thru the years in hitting it out of atrocious places. He seems to thrive on difficult shots. Also, I'm happy that after a bogey or a bad hole, he can bounce back and make birdies. He's currently 17 in OWGR.

Re: Wells Fargo round 4
Phil is also #1 in scoring average and #3 in strokes gained putting. He has had far worse stats and won tournaments that's why he HAS to win soon. Doesn't he ??

Re: Wells Fargo round 4
He gave the fans a thrill again Saturday. He always does.
Mickelson was 5-under, only four shots out of the lead with one hole to play, the last hole before a Sunday he thought imminent and a summer he thought filled with possibilities.
He walked off the 18th green Saturday after carding a quad. Mickelson disappeared into the scoring room and stayed inside the Quail Hollow clubhouse for so long the security in charge of keeping the crowd away from biggest star in the tournament feared he had slipped out without them noticing.
And then there he was. Smiling as he walked out of the clubhouse and into a setting sun. Walking straight for the crowd.
He signed autographs for 30 minutes
AFTER THAT TERRIBLE QUAD HOW MANY GUYS WOULD HAVE SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS? PHILS THE BEST
