Re: Houston 1st round 2016
Big tournament this week to help Phil get ready for Augusta. He didn't seem to play too well last week (granted the wind was tough, the course was unfamiliar, etc.)

No wind and soft conditions. There are going to be low scores today just hope Phil is one of them.

Re: Houston 1st round 2016
Uninspiring second shot prevents Phil from having a good look at birdie at 12
Par and E through 3
Approach shots are holding him back thus far

Re: Houston 1st round 2016
My son is going down to SHO tonite to catch Friday/Saturday action, his friend's sister lives on the course, they will stay at her house, and they have Champions Pavilion passes. Golly, my son is always going to these things with his connections (can't tell you how many Thunder games he's gone to because friends have extra season tickets, lol). Then he's going to see a round of his friend (roommate) who turned pro and is playing some minor golf tournament somewhere within half hour of Houston and coming back home with him.
I told him he better snap some photos of Phil and send them to me....he said he will, so I'll post them.

Great that your son is going...always nice to have connections.
That being said Phil just put his 25th ball in water on 18th since 2006.
Even so he still holds best scoring for this event. Announcers are puzzled.

Another penalty at 18 (drove it into the water)
Phil has 32 feet for par, so looking like a bogey

These fairways are pretty generous and Phil has had 2 b penalties already.

Couple of epic par saves there. Phil needs to start finding the fairway on his second nine.

Seems to be missing everything a tad left. I wonder if Getson is there?

Re: Houston 1st round 2016
Quite a bit when they show Phil after a shot he's taking a breath. Don't know if it's the heat and humidity or if he's tired or just dissatisfied with his game.

Re: Houston 1st round 2016
Just can't give himself a decent look at birdie - outside of the tap-in, I don't think he has had a birdie putt under 16 feet.
