Doral 2nd round 2016

and PHIL was pretty nifty on Thursday. Yes he made a couple of bogies after some errant shots. Yes he missed some putts but he made 7 birds. A few less sloppy shots and its a 64--let's go PHIL

Great 1st round...hope he follows it up.

Was out of town yesterday giving a workshop but was able to check into scores and was delighted to see Phil move up during his round.

well a couple of birds and he is at -7 in the lead

Going for....par-5 in 2, trickles off, chips it to 4 feet ...and.... BIRIDE!!! to -9

Can't make all the putts--only a par at #10

Geesus cripes..... Hole #11....no way Phil can win this if he keeps missing the stuff he's supposed to make.  And please, no no no, not Adam Scott again.

And now he puts it in the front bunker in 2 on a par 5 to a back hole position, some 57 feet away (instead of laying up in fairway with a clean chip to the pin)....ugh.

Says 'greenside bunker' but shottracker makes it look like its in the rough between the bunkers....and he chips it to 8 feet for birdie....let's make it PHIL!!

Can't putt again....arrggghhhhhh..

Misses a 5-ft putt, makes bogie, uggghhhhh. Phillllllll!!!

They will laugh him mercilessly again about this 2 putter grips thing he is doing, claw when lose and conventional when far away.....it's the claw that's getting him.

I knew it was too good to be true... Phil doubles a par-3 and falls off the map and Adam Scott in the lead, ughhhhh

I check at work and he is -9. I get home and turn it on and he is -5. Unreal. Of course Scott/DJ drive the 16th.. Why has Phil been laying up there? Too many big guns to chase now.

Man this has been a deflating back nine. Phil played so well on the front, did not see this coming. However, he is still right in this thing headed into the weekend.

Crap, he completely fell apart on the back nine, back to Even on the day.

Typical Phil, a complete meltdown.  For someone whose game is supposedly better, he can't put together a complete round this year.  Unfortunately there are too many good players in this tourney to be able to do this and get away with it for a good finish, so I don't see the weekend getting any better.  Oh well, hope for the best, prepare for the worst...

Sucks to shoot a 40 on the back nine, but I'm a little more optimistic than some about his chances.

Ugh, he tripped in the foot race, several ran over/on him, and he got lapped.

What a tale of two 9s. Looked awesome for 27 holes then meltdown. I'm on way to airport to go home and gotta say that ruined my flight. He's still ok and can do this but what a head scratcher
