Oakmont doesn't have those mammoth holes though, like Merion 3, 5, and 18. There's just a couple fewer shorter holes

Well, obviously there's some that do well on this type of course... Dustin J., J. Speith, , etc....seem to be doing well all 3 days, and then there's those that don't seem to take to this course....Phil, Bubba, Rickie, etc.

But Phil never fixed his shot problems in the last 3-4 years that I've been complaining.....he just seemed to be working on the philosophy that 'it's gotten me here so far', well, the competition you routinely been beating has been replace with fresh faces that play well and the courses have been getting harder (narrower fairways, fast greens, deeper rough)....like Darwin said, you have to keep evolving.

Some were just as bad. Look at poor Ben Martin. Once Phil's out of it, he gets fast and in a get it over with frame of mind. Before this started, he said he's close and didn't know if it'd be this week, later in the year, or next year when he found his total form. Not sure what that's supposed to mean, but I think my expectations were higher than his, even though his hope for a super week were likely higher, I didn't listen with an open mind to what he said. Today should be interesting, but I am not a fan of this course. Phil can be home having dinner with his family and watching the outcome of the championship!
