I wonder if he has 4 low rounds in him. Thats definitely what you need on this course. Most guys putting for eagles on the par 5s

I really thought he'd be sharp on a course he loves. The game is not there. I'm sure he is practicing he just doesn't have it anymore

And PHIL is at -1 for the day after a birdie at #13---He has a long way to go and a short time to get there!!!
Re: 1st & 2nd Round Northern Trust 2020
Needs to get to -3 to have a chance to play the weekend; I don't think -2 will hold. Needs to birdie this short par-4, the par5, and one more. Not sure he can do that.

He's done. No further playing till after the FedEx Cup. Now Phil, if you aren't going to practice hard, you are likely not going to do well in the majors either.... so better check on Champions Tour or if they have an golf analyst announcing gig for you.

We are assuming he isn't practicing that much. What if he is and just doesn't have it anymore. Is his putter. He is below average.

Then that would be even more frustrating and likely for a quicker run to the Champions tour. We've had it good with Phil, he's lasted longer than most others could make it on the PGA Tour, but once your skills erode (or interest to practice, either way), and new talent coming in is very honed, sharp, and ready.... there's just too much competition out there now. Just go down the Kornferry Tour list of players and see how many you recognize as former PGA Tour players. But it would be fun to see Phil at Champions Tour and as it may be easy to think he should win easily..... those guys are still good, and it's not a given he'd win (although we'd like him to).

Just read Phil will play Champions tour then plan a scouting trip to winged foot before the Safeway Open. Said Safeway has narrow fairways and same grass as winged foot but rough not as long obviously.
Feels that is a good prep for the major

I think DJ is the new heir apparent (sit down Koepka) PGATour star. Playing unbelievably good this week, draining long putts and making long straight drives.

DJ is definitely in the zone. But let's not forget a month ago he shot 80 80
Then next event 78 then WD. He fantastic especial with the putter and long ball this week. Its like every month you can say that about any guy in the top 5 ranking these days. When they are on they look unbeatable. They were touting Bryson as the winner this week and he MC. The days of a long term #1 and long term #2 like the tiger /phil era are over.

Re: 1st & 2nd Round Northern Trust 2020
I know, but I kind of like DJ's lackadaisical attitude. I read some analyst say about the diss' that Koepka threw his way at the PGA Championship (before Koepka crumbled on Sunday) regarding "other players on the leaderboard? I've got 4 majors, what's anyone else got that's up there?, maybe 1?" (or something like that).... but the analyst said it was like Koepka was trying to get into a mind game that DJ never even knew he was playing in, lol. Maybe that explains why I also like Gary Woodland, just seems not phased by much. I love Rickie, but he doesn't seem to show up when it counts, at least not since his win at Sawgrass. Bryson, just tries to hard to be Mr. Scientist, kind of obnoxious at times. Rory, I didn't like him initially, and starting to warm up to him, he's so honest in showing his feelings about the state of his golf, doesn't try to cover up when not playing well, he would just say it (Phil would do the "I'm just this close" when not playing well )... maybe because Rory looks like my son, lol (like twins). Well, it will be fun to see what Phil does on the Champions Tour rather than just be absent from golf for 2 weeks.
