VERY lucky on 8. looked OB, but hit a tree and bounced in fairway

He is playing 3 out of these next 4 weeks. Looks like he hasn't touched a club for 6 weeks. Saying now focus is better with the new diet regimen and so he can practice less....I para phrasing... but REALLY ???? Hes going to fall out of top 50 and his 25 year record will end. I really hope not but writing looks like it's on the wall. I gotta stop getting my Hope's up and realize 49 no matter how slim trim you are is old for this tour.

he needs to be in the top 60, or else he isn't going to qualify for Winged Foot

Just watched Phil interview on GC. He is expecting a 6 or 7 under round tomorrow. Says he's close. I guess his lack of form is bothering me a lot more than him. Hope he is right.

Absolutely nothing on the back 9.... 2 holes to go, needs 2 consecutive birdies....or an eagle on the last.

I guess if we wanted to we could blame the 9 on the par 5 5th hole on Thursday. He pars it he's -4. Phil hit 5/28 fairways. I know the rough wasn't terribly long here and he was swinging for the fences but that stat is atrocious. I hope he thinks this through especially when he sees Furyk playing well at 49....a short hitter.

It's all between the ears. He put it out of bounds 2x on the same hole, wth? The way I've cut my scores down and been consistently playing 80-85 this summer is simply reduce/eliminate the triples/doubles. I can handle bogies as long as I make sufficient pars (I'm not big on birdies, but sometimes I might make 2 in a round :-). When I'm in our version of 'Sherwood Forest', I just take my medicine and hit straight out to the fairway using up an extra stroke (better than playing pinball off the trees and racking up 3-4 extra strokes). Phil didn't seem to do that, going out of bounds twice on same hole shooting for the moonshot.

Exactly.... Furyk can do it, so Phil...what do you say, you have to change your approach. Playing loose the first round and then putting pressure on yourself to go -6 on the second round just to make the cut isn't the way to do it.
