PGA Championship Round Two 2018
and I feel that PHIL needs to make this cut. He has to go under par today. On Thursday it was a mixture of great shots-making putts that was offset by several really poor shots plus several missed putts. What a day--The early three putt seemed to drain him a bit. Let's go PHIL
Re: PGA Championship Round Two 2018
I think Phil 'must make' this cut to insure himself on the Ryder Cup. He was in 4th place in March and has steadily fallen down to 10th place. Others around him in the Ryder Cup standings have steadily risen and also played the 1st round better than he. Players get 1.5x more (50% more) points in majors then regular PGA events towards Ryder Cup points (except the winner still gets 2x points). Although the Captain's picks aren't all made until September (3 on Sept 3rd, 1 on Sept. 9th), and there's more time to gain points, there's nothing more impressionable than performance in a major. If Tiger makes cut and Phil doesn't, it's not good, imo.

Phi better get on the tee box and see where the cut line is. That's all he should worry about. Anything can happen on a weekend. If he looks at the leaderboard and see he is 15 shots back I don't want him going all SWASHBUCKLER PHIL and miss the cut. He dug himself in a big hole.

Missed birdie putt from 14'9".... gotta make those, not likely to have 5 footers.

Everyone, I mean EVERYONE was saying, if you hit your drives in the fairway, this course plays 'easy', but you have to be in the fairways; "there's nothing tricky about this course, but you have to play from the fairway". DJ saying, all my bogies came from shots to the rough.

Play has been suspended....ok, so it's either a blessing or a curse, depending on whether rain makes for soft greens but makes the course play longer because balls won't run....I think it will be harder on his back nine, which is the harder nine.

Par-5 coming up later, don't tell me that's the only one you birdie the rest of the way and miss cut by 1?

Bizarre that he is playing this poorly in these conditions. Needs a miracle now. What a shame.

Double bogey on the par 3, Phil is done. No way I can see him making the Ryder Cup. Tiger definitely is one of the picks.

I agree. Phil's play had a bit of brightness at the beginning of the season, but has been down hill every since. I hope he accepts 'assistant' when offered it.

Feel sick to my stomach! !!! He needs to ho back to that mental coach. He isn't this bad. Old age and pressure have taken their toll .

It's looking like Captain's picks are getting narrowed:
PGA Championship Results Impact on Ryder Cup standing:
** = improved ; xx = worsened
Also, seems like Tiger's consideration is now solidified and he was strongly pulling for Dechambeaux; but aside from Tiger, Kisner is the most solid of the 'outsiders', imo, and Xander Schauffele looks really good. Seems like Phil has some competition that could get him bumped from the squad
