and PHIL needs to get in gear this weekend

Time to be relevant!!! I am 1st to say this--when he looks down and down sometimes he pops up and surprises us.

Well, bogie on 1st hole again, so +4 total...sliding backwards.

I really think something is wrong maybe arthritis flair up or something. He's has missed greens from the fairway at 100 to 130 yrds. And chipped so poorly it's hard to believe. He opens his mouth saying he wants to finish the season strong but his game has really gone backwards the past month. Something is up we don't know about. I just saw,a new Embrel commercial so he isn't going to blame arthritis. That medicine helps people with everyday activities. Playing competitive golf may be a big ask at this point in his career.

Or it could be as simple as he isn't 'as hungry' as he used to be and doesn't put in the practice time. Possibly caddy miscalculations on distances? Is he just trying to coast and see how far he can go (not too far) on minimal practice time?

Well Phil topped off the bogie on 1 with an Eagle on 2, so +2 total. He still gives away too many shots with bogies/doubles.

OK, let's see, he's sitting 103 from the hole, even I can put it within 15-20 feet from there....and Phil?.... 27 feet to the hole, ugh.  That bogie on 1, he must have miffed on a chip... was through the green, in the rough just off the green and 35 feet to the hole and advanced it 7 feet.

3rd hole just proved my assumption. Bogey from 105 yrds in fairway he better keep his mouth shut if he's not putting in the effort. He keeps talking Pres cup and ryder cup next year I think he has physical problems he doesn't reveal. He's not this bad.

He is 4/4 in fairways and rest of the game collapses

I think it is all evident right there....par4, sitting in fairway 103 to the hole and puts it on the green to 27 feet, ugh...then putt (or chip?) to 3 feet 5 inches....and misses the 3 footer for another bogie.  Back to +3

I was really getting my hopes up for next week. He plays well there but maybe that was then this is now.

Right now Phil is 45-position in FedEx Cup, that doesn't get him into the final playoff tournament (need to be top 30). So President's Cup choices will be made after the Fed-Ex cup, correct? So unless he does something spectacular between now and then, don't know, could be a toss up and final swan song to Phil to pick him as Captain's pick. But if he continues this lack luster play through next year, he can forget Ryder Cup, imo.

Ugh, Hole 8....9 feet 10 inches above the hole.  Likely has to make a nearly 10 foot downhiller to save par..... BOGIE, +4

Players have until the 2nd playoff event to make it on points. Sept 6th captains picks are announced

I was gone most of the day today, but I have been thinking of the arthritis thing myself. That and his many other distractions. It would help explain Bones abrupt departure. If it isn't his health or someone in his family, I, too believe that there's something going on. He seems to lack feel with his shots--distance control off, etc. I have arthritis myself, and yesterday couldn't get out of bed. Today was much better. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, as I know he wants to play well.
