Yup PHIL just always think he can do it. We get frustrated when PHIL says "I am almost there" but that quality of optimism is what propels him along. The thought I can do it moves him

Yea well, if he wants to flaunt playing a tournament without a practice round, that's his stupidity to flaunt, imo. Not well advised when you have 'issues'. And the bit about 'lack of focus', enough man....it's almost as popular a cop out as "I'm almost there". Just didn't play well during that stretch, leave focus out of it. Maybe I should call all my bad shots "uhm, I didn't focus on those", lol.

Just remembered an observation on Thursday.they had a military opening ceremony on the 1st tee box which is very close to the practice putting green. A women sang the national anthem it was awesome.Phil stopped putting took hat off placed hand on heart all the golfers stopped practicing EXCEPT one golfer - RORY. I was shocked granted he's not American as others weren't but to continue putting while everyone else showed courtesy says volumes IMO

Huge par putt made on the par 3 #9.

Phil is hitting a lot of fairways but his chips have been average at best. Scott and Rory look unbeatable so far. Pains me to say it.

I think Phil went through this phase a couple years ago claw grip for short and conventional for longer. Then he abandoned it . Anyone else recall that?? Don't know why he is flip flopping again this year. he was top ten in putting this year.

Phil is hanging in there. They showed a stat that Phil is -46 for the year which is #1 on tour. Looks like he will be 5-6 back tomorrow so will need an early run tomorrow.

Solid round today. Could have been lower with a little better iron play. Phil drove the ball very well. He'll be in the second last group with Scott. Rory has this one in his hands; a round in the 60s and Phil won't have a realistic chance, but if McIlroy falters....

Let's just say that PHIL is living his dream this year-except for winning as he is right there again on Sunday afternoon. Who wants to be at home rehabbing or t40 at the start of Sunday.

4th time on Sunday that PHIL is smelling the top of the leaderboard.

I posted one early today but if I can find more I will do a feeling the love for PHIL this week.

He is a headliner where ever he goes but playing well gets even more attention

Some of us are being a little hard on Phil, I think. The golf commentators are saying that he's never hit the ball better--ever! We all want him to win, but he knows what works for him. It wouldn't work for him to miss something important to his family, as his golf game would suffer. Bet whatever he did at home was more important than the tournament. Phil needs excuses for what goes wrong. He always tells the media something. Just like the guys who hit a putt way offline and go over and tap down an imaginary impediment. I am just so excited to have him relevant again! I hope that he can keep the ship steady tomorrow.
