Holy Cow... Phil selected to Presidents Cup !!!

Don't ask me why or how, but Jay Haas picked Bill Haas and Phil Mickelson.

And considering all the support that Jay Haas from other players in the automatic top 10 that wanted Phil, I support the move....let's go to Korea and play some great golf!!

Sounds like Phil's mentoring the youngsters and the team leadership he's shown has paid off. I think he's one popular guy! May the Good Lord give Phil his A Game back for Korea! Sounds like he was a shoo-in! What a shocker.

Phil will be playing next week in the BMW , he really needs to end up top thirty for the TC. This is his last chance to salvage the season and prove his Pres Cup pick is more than just a mentor in the team room. All his talk of knowing what he needs to do really needs to translate to low scores.
I really glad he got chosen and gave me goose bumps when Jay said EVERYONE wanted Phil. I just hope he plays the way he knows he can or it is going to be tough reading the end of year analysis. GO PHIL!!!!!

this is why Bob Harig is my favorite golf writer. Love the part about the Ryder cup and this is players way of backing all Phil did for the team at ryder cup.

Yes, I know...but because he is currently at ~61st place in points, he doesn't get in by finishing 30th out of 70; he has to finish something like 10th or better to bring his points down to the 30th position.

Phil will be on Morning Drive Friday morning 8:00am -9:30 EST. Thats a surprise don't ever see him talk lately except after a round.

I hope Phil doesn't pull a Paula Creamer in the BMW. Paula, who after getting selected as a 'pick' for the Solheim Cup, misses the cut in this next tournament....not good form for a 'pick' and making her choice even more questionable.

I don't think there is a cut. Everyone plays all 4 rounds, but obviously only 30 will advance.

Paula and Juli are good friends and met for dinner, it said online. Juli is convinced that Paula will rise to the occasion. Her game has been off all year. I was thinking the same thing about Phil, but maybe the intangibles, as they call them, and leadership are worth a point or two. Very similar stories. I wish there were some way that Phil could convince himself that next week is a major!

You're right, there is no cut. Not sure, but I just saw some reasoning that stated that "since only 70 qualify, therefore there is no cut", not sure if the 70-and-ties is some kind of mandatory cut level for all PGA tournaments?
