Wells Fargo - Round 4
Let's go Phil...let's see a top-10 or possibly top-5; don't collapse like everyone outside your fan base is expecting.
I would like someone other than Rory to win but it doesn't look likely. Not that I don't like the guy, he is personable and humble to a degree, but don't want to see the top dog so far ahead of everyone else that he can coast for tournaments on end without sacrificing his top spot. But until Phil made that triple, it was looking like Rory was again going to take the trophy from his hands.

Yeah, he's playing really well so a nice 66 or something like that would be good today. I still can't believe he can't hit a 3 wood or 4 wood into the fairway on 18. Doesn't make sense. He mashed his 3 wood on 16 yesterday 315 yards......granted it was down hill but hit a bullet......top 10 would be good for getting ready to make the US Open run.
Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
Yeah Phil better post a low round just to prove to himself he can stay focused and play well when he has no chance of winning.
I really don't care for Rory, tired of the way the press is painting him as such a little darling. There were a few things in the past that he said and did that I thought weren't nice. He since has learned his lesson and yes he was younger then. If someone can take #1 from him Jordan gets my vote or Jason Day both don't seem to get overtaken by all the fame and fortune...so far anyway.
As a Phil fan I was really sensing a win this week. It is too bad he isn't sitting at -14 like Webb and at least have a fighting chance. it will be interesting how Phil plays in the 2 events before the US Open.

If Phil had parred 18th hole all week he'd be 1 off lead now. What a shame

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
close misses at 8 and 9 were a bit of a downer.
Make those putts and he is at -13.

I know this is sour grapes because Rory is playing great but Ive counted at least 3 times this tournament where his ball looked like it was deep in the trees and bounces into the fairway. Anyone else be looking at double.

Rory shots have bounced back and hung on banks as well.
PHIL made another big par putt and gets his top 5

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
Hopefully no one climbs up to join him to make it tied for 6th, ugh. But yes, good round for Phil and overcame what I thought would be another 18th hole debacle.

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
Phil was ranked 2nd in total birdies behind Rory. As he keeps saying if he can keep the mistakes to a minimum .....

"That darn last hole just has my number!" , funny, Phil keeps his sense of humor.

I think Phil felt your good karma and encouraging words at the beginning of this round. Love the way he hung in there today even though he couldn't win. Very well done! At least we can stop hearing about the no top 10's that they kept harping about before the Masters. Now we need a win. Wish he'd try the John Deere this year. Vijay did a lot of that in his 40's and won a bunch.

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
I hope Phil does well at the US Open at Chambers Bay. From what I 've read, they've said you need at least 10 rounds of practice rounds to get familiarity with the course/holes. And the pro's have said no one has that kind of time to spend given their normal schedules. So, hopefully it comes down to experience and Phil's daff touch around the greens is better than Rory's. Rory is just getting too much like Tiger used to be.

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
I read that when Rory was told Mike Davis said you will need a lot of practice rounds at Chambers Bay Rory replied what's Mike's handicap. I know that was meant to be a joke but still IMO Rory is kind of pompous and he should be more humble. Rory's clubs are definitely doing the talking so I wish he would leave it at that.JMO

Re: Wells Fargo - Round 4
Golf Channel had Phil playing in World Series of Golf? (the tournament where they get each of the people who won the 4 majors) and Phil was just throwing darts at the flags, had a record 28 on the front on one round, I think he went on to win by 5. Wish he could play like that again, for just 1 US Open.
