US Open 3rd Round 2018

Post by Admin on Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:12 am

A decent to very good PHIL round on Friday but it could have been very good. He has hit 13/14 fairways in each of his rounds. Yet he has faltered with his second or third shots. Yes DJ and others are 30-40 yards closer in and hitting more lofted clubs. That is only part of the problem. At #16 on Friday he over cooked a wedge and was above the hole for his birdie putt. That's a no no and several times PHIL ended up on the wrong side of a cup or in some cases just too far away! Needs a unreal round today plus some Johnson missteps to get back into it. PHIL can hot a 67 and DJ a 74 and its game on.

Well, at least Phil 1) made the cut, and did it by 2) not crumbling at the finish on Friday like Speith (2 bogies in a row). Phil made all those fairways partly from using that utility iron of his to good use....but still leaves him back some distance a few times.

I hope this isn't a run away win for DJ. Phil needs to putt better thats what he said after his round. They showed him putting and chipping at 7:30 last night. He said his speed was off. Phil needs some chips and a hole out from the fairway Ala Jimmy Walker. Some crazy good luck needs to happen in addition to a -5 or 6 under. DJ looks unbeatable I hope he has a over par round in him today.

Loved the singing of Happy Birthday on the 1st tee.

Just lost 2 shots to field. Can't do that when you're 10 back.

+2 thru 9. Not going to happen. Really a shame. No poetic justice in golf.

The only guy I do not want to win is Patrick Reed.

IF he can stay healthy and competitive for next season I think he has a better shot at pebble beach. He has won there and contended plenty of times. I know setup is always harder for US opens but he has played that course every year his whole career and that has to help. It just seemed this year his form has been awesome and the time was now. .Im just worried his form wont carry over to next year. Father time tough to beat.
Next year PGA is at Bethpage maybe NY crowds can help him there. If he can win one of the next 2 majors it will take the sting out of this weeks loss.

Absolutely unprofessional for Phil to do what he did on hole 13.  A complete meltdown...

just saw it

FUCKING CHEATING by Phil. He should have been DQed. If doping is a 1 year suspension, that should be worse

I am very disappointed in his pathetic ass right now

Not only that, he ran the ball down and hit it backwards towards the hole.  I really don't know what he was thinking, but it was stupid of him to do.

what he did was far worse than a doping infraction. He needs a couple of YEARS on the sidelines

Mike Davis should make an example of him and suspending him from Pebble Beach next year

If he had any integrity left after the crap he just pulled, he would disqualify himself...

What Phil did today was disgusting. He showed no integrity and should of been disqualified. I lost a lot of respect for Phil. He needs to realize he will never be the golfer he was 10 years ago. Today he was a cheater and quitter. He should pack up his bags and not play tomorrow.

his interview is disgusting

He is saying he was doing it to take advantage of the rule

Maybe a PGA Tour suspension is also warranted
