Houston Open 2018 Round Two
PHIL started out hot and hotter on Thursday--- six birdies in 8 holes
Then his putter froze and a poor bunker shot cost him two shots. Still the guy has game so hopeful for his early morning start!!

I take it back, he's not looking as great as he did the first nine yesterday....geesh, lucky to make par on that par5. His 2nd shot was 26 yrds backwards towards the fairway, ugh?

looks like 2 penalty shots in water on 18th. looks like a triple. so unnecessary

Not good momentum heading to Augusta, imo.

Maybe he'll fool around and miss the cut!

he's putting fine.
It seems like he's working on hitting fades with his driver. Using this as Augusta prep more than being worried about winning

one stupid hole he goes from in contention to cut line issues. doubles and triples are inexcusable

But if he can't control it, like he's showing here based on the 'result', how could that possibly bode well for Augusta?

Phil said when interviewed this week he wanted to be in contention on the weekend. Hes got guys breathing down his back for Ryder cup spots every shot means MONEY/POINTS. Personally Im sick of hearing he is practicing shots for Augusta and not trying to win this event. The only good thing is thank goodness he won this year! He needs a good final 9. He has shot 63 on this course before and will likely need it on the weekend because of those big numbers.

Whomever designed this course should be shot... go to Shottracker where you can see the animated image of the hole, and move from 3, to 4, to 5, to 6 .... they all look the same....dogleg right to left with water on the left????

Exactly, if he wants to 'practice his drives' or on course shots, he can easily get some small course to close off one side for him to use for an afternoon.... no need to 'waste' a tournament to do so. That logic just seems to be excuse for bad play.

pretty sure I saw on Golf Central this course was 2nd most penalty shots on tour. Phil was quoted as saying he knows first hand where everyone is...

Phil drains a bomb. If he can get to -6 after 2 rounds I'll happy. I just hope the afternoon wave doesn't go too low.

Phils par saves have been awesome but AS THE ANNOUNCERS SAID THE UNFORCED ERRORS HAVE COST HIM PLENTY.

How do you think these fairways compare to Augusta width wise. Putting great but as usually worried about the tee ball.
