Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
PHIL needs to clean up that short game today. MAYBE a top 5 is possible. Im so tired of hearing no top 10s since the PGA.

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
Phil misses a 15 footer for birdie at 1. Still just can't seem to get off to a good start. and an easy par is usually a good start but he seems to need something to happen to jump start one of these rounds.
I'm glad he's got Houston next week even though this is a pretty tough course and the conditions have been tough. It would still be nice for him to shoot in the 60's today just to get some momentum going.

Another double on 4, again from a spot where he should make bogey at worst. Chunked another chip.

When Phil has no shot at winning we see this happen a lot. Its like get me outta here. Cant believe his game is this bad. I guess his fans are the only ones worried about a top 10. He said earlier this week this venue didn't help for Augusta. When he blew yesterdays round it was over for him IMO

this is turning into a joke. I think its the lack of focus issue. I think it was posted that focus issues are a side effect of his medication and not being in contention on top of that we are seeing a horiffic start

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
Bogey on 5, three over, same start as Saturday. Looks like another bad final round.
I guess this is what people should expect from a golfer Phil's age. I had hoped he might have a mid-40s stretch like Vijay or Kenny Perry, doesn't look likely.
At this point the state of his game can't be considered an aberration. This is the new normal.

We can throw in Steve Stricker too for a good run in his forties. I was thinking if these guys can why not Phil. It is going to be one longgggggg season if he continues to play like this. What kills me is Phil saying pre season how great everything was with his game. The season is still young but so far very discouraging.

What the hell is going on, Phil, wake up. This is pathetic. Almost the highest round of the day (not quite, there's a +5 out there...I'm sure you can overtake him on the next hole.....good golly).

If this wasn't 2 weeks before a major Phil wouldn't be playing this course. I bet he skips it next year. If he doesn't play well next week, a course he has a good history on then I don't know what to think about the future of his game.

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
I think has got what he wanted out this week. He had a great week at Augusta but its too much. He played great on Thursday and frankly quite on Friday. Too many loose drives on Saturday and Sunday has put too much pressure on his short game
I would love to see a top ten this week but likely will not happen

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
As pitiful as this round is, I just watched 2 guys miss putts of less than 3 ft. Zach was one of them.

I hope he can put together a good back 9 and have something to hang his hat on going into next week. Just made a 15ft birdie

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
Yea, and what about the birdie miss on 17....missed a 9 footer for birdie. He either needs glasses or a putter alignment. Putting is a game of degrees.... 1 degree off-line and you've missed the cup 6 feet away. Just like they have swing analyzers, they have computerized putter analyzers....why doesn't he make use of them?.....if you're tendency is one way or another because you visual acuity appears to you that way, you can have your putter adjusted. But man, do something, don't just talk to Stockton and have him watch you....eyeball is not good enough to discern 1-degree off increments. Just like when Bill Glasson was giving my son some lessons back when he was 16, he would tape my son with high speed video. He said you have to look at it slowed down to really see what is going on...those people who try to do it in real time, are just guessing. When he showed us somethings, I couldn't see them in real time, but in slow motion, certain moves were evident. Same for putting....how can you eyeball discern if someone is 1-degree offline? when they think they 'see the line'? Phil, get some help with someone that is techno-savy.
Driving you got the width of the fairway for accuracy.
Approach shots got the width of the green for accuracy (for amateurs).
Putting....you have 4-inches, the width of the cup for accuracy.

You'd think of all people he'd be into that. He makes some great putts and misses some easy ones. Hard to tell what's going on. His heart is definitely not into this round, but I must say that I think he's trying or he wouldn't have made any comeback. He also said that he'd gotten too mechanical, whatever that means.

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
14th 17th 18th were great chances for birdies which would have been 6 birdies on back 9. I don't know guess we have to see what happens next week. Stockton first helped Phil in 2009 and it paid off, Since then he should be giving Phil kick backs for all the business that got him. I think Stockton is over rated

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
Well, not everyone is into the computer swing analysis stuff. But I've seen some pretty cool gizmos that you clamp on your putter, with a laser beam no less, and you can get a readout on your iPhone telling you if you're putting toe open/closed, what degree off-line swing path, etc.

Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
5 or 6 putts went wayward today
All in all a good prep week for PHIL
He should have scored at least a top 10 this week.
Based on his Thursday-Friday play maybe even better then that.
