Re: Valero Texas 2015 Final Round
I agree with J--we could have seen a -6 back nine today. He had a decent chance at 15 as well.
So The game is close and If we see more improvement next week I say watch out in Augusta

Do you think you could get that information to him ASAP so that he could get with the program?

Well, looks like they are keying on Phil needing a good showing in Houston. On the Golf Channel last night, one announcer asked, "well who needs to have a good showing in Houston prior to the Masters to get their momentum moving in the right direction".... answer the other guy came up with was "well, obviously Phil Mickelson."
His showing at Valero went in the opposite direction.... 70 - 72 - 74 - 76 , lost ground each day.

Mickelson doesn't find Masters momentum at Texas Open

At this point, after 23 years on Tour, there’s little Phil Mickelson can do that will come as a shock.
But it’s never any less entertaining.
Mickelson went out in a woeful 6-over 42 on Sunday at the Valero Texas Open, with a double bogey on No. 4 and bogeys on Nos. 5, 6, 7 and 9.
Of course, he’d close with three birdies and a lone bogey on the back to shoot 34, somehow shaving eight strokes off his front-nine score for a final-round 4-over 76. The turnaround is even more impressive when you consider the birdie putts he missed on 17 and 18, both from roughly 11 feet.
Still, if he was looking to gain some momentum ahead of the Masters, he didn’t exactly do it.
Instead, his score increased by two strokes each day at TPC San Antonio, with rounds of 70-72-74-76.
Mickelson is scheduled, as usual, to play next week’s Shell Houston Open, where he’ll have one more opportunity to get his game in shape before making a run at his fourth green jacket.
Since the start of last season, the 44-year-old, 42-time winner has posted just one top-10 finish, a solo second at last year’s PGA Championship.

Someone else on TGC said it would be a negative for most people, but Phil can come out of nowhere and put it all together. I am losing confidence.

I think the optimism is based on what Phil used to be able to do when he was younger and more skilled with his clubs. I like to think of myself capable of getting out of trouble like I used to, but it seldom happens anymore :-)

Uhm.....
“I got off to a poor start scoring-wise on the front the last two days and came back in both rounds to shoot a couple under,” said Phil. “That was good. Today was one of the best ball-striking days I’ve had in a long time. I’m looking forward to improving on this in Houston (this week) but it looks like it’s starting to come together. My game feels petty good.”
Gee, which round was that....I must have missed it. And to selectively say you shot well on half a round, well, tournaments are played with full rounds, and 4 of them. Maybe I should try that.... I was playing great and under par for holes 1-4, so I'm feeling pretty good even though I shot 15-over for holes 5-18, so it balances out.

PHIL is trying to pick out positive aspects of his game. He has been pretty blunt about his game this year. He said one time his putting was beyond pathetic. From 120 yrds in and chipping and putting was sub standard. The fairways were tough to hit this week. Regardless of all that if he cant start putting he is done. watching Jordan and Walker putt so well was making me sick!
