Farmer’s Round Four 2018

Just curious, how does Tiger at -3 go out before Phil at -2, when both are going off the back side?

Well, Phil bogies the first hole and Tiger now leads Phil by 2, ugh. This is going to be the exasperating thing for Phil going forward, tgat Tiger coming off 2+ years with virtually no real tournaments and multiple surgeries, is able to come back and do better than him right out of the gate, and whatever air time, whether on-course or interest to interview that Phil had before, will be that much more diminished now.

This is so depressing. He can't get up and down ftom in front of green. He had Tiger by 5 shots at one point.

Tiger, -1 to -4 total, now leads Phil by 3, ugh. I think I'm going out to play myself. Can't get any more frustrating.

Phil is now +7 over his last 12 holes and back to even for the tournament. He was cruising through 2 1/2 rounds and then just blew up. Depressing

He has to be mentally spent. He sees flashes of brilliance then he totally collapses. What is the reason? ??.He would be better served to just come clean with whatever it is...even if "mental " issues. Tiger playing well and missing fairways just like Phil only adds to Phils misery and ours!!

He supposedly physically in great shape but apparently the cusp of being in contention yesterday unraveled him. Funny that he came through at Pres cup and Ryder Cup

he should not be playing if this is his level. Just retire if this is how he is going to play every time he is in contention

Before the Palm Springs tourney he said something about it’s too much work to try and fix the driving so he doesnt even bother, and something about it doesnt take much to get his irons in shape which is what he has always  been good at.

Is that the lazy way out?

Sorry, but at that level you always have to work hard to improve or maintain

For what its worth when I spoke with Andrew Getson at Careerbuilder he said Phil has been working hard on his game and was frustrated. He offered up that information I didnt ask. Pains me to say it but maybe Phil is at the point in his career that no matter how much he practices it's extremely difficult to put together four good rounds in competition.
He has scored low at TPC Scottsdale and loves it there. If he has a lousy week it's time for concern. Maybe he needed the first 2 tournaments to get into the competitive mood.

I would think Phil would do well where the rough is low and there are very few trees.  The courses that come to mind are Career Builder (Palm Springs), Scottsdale, Pebble Beach, the British Open courses (they have other problems), one of the ones in the late fall China/Singapore stops (he won the WGC there), and the 1st one in January/Hawaii, but you have to win to get there, and with small field (and for that reason, I don't know why he doesn't play those Abu Dabi courses, which look like few trees to me (palm trees are just one big stem  Cool ).

Also, what else is Getson going to say?  Do you think he'd say otherwise?  If he did and Phil heard about it, he'd be gone in a heartbeat. It's all about the $$$$$$. Why does Phil always, always open his mouth about "how close he is to possibly winning", that "this will be a very good year for him, he feels it, he's playing his best lately", yada yada yada..... he needs to keep his fans and sponsors hoping he'll win.... it's the sponsorship $$$$$$ which make up 98-99% of his earnings and they are fast to leave when you're no longer in the winner's circle or contending (i.e., Callaway dropped Ernie Els a few months back, although Phil just signed a 'lifetime' sponsorship agreement with Callaway).

I know what you are saying about the $$$ but it was last fall after a great Presidents cup and 3rd at Safeway that he actually said he's close to winning. If he had another MC I get it but I guess the 2 out of 4 good rounds is keeping him positive. Gotta be tough when they constantly shove a mic in your face. Price you pay for being a Big name. I didn't see any comments after the last 2 rounds s maybe he's learned to be quiet. Lol
