Lots of talk about Phil's amazing ways. My Sirius PGATour radio guys saying Phil hit something like only 10 fairways in 3 rounds "yet sits there at -10"; Notah Begay said Phil hit only 4 out of 28 fairways in rounds 1 & 3 yet shot -7 in those two rounds, lol. Yesterday, when Phil made birdie from among the trees, shaping around the trees, through the fairway and running it up on the green, someone started the conversation buy Johnny Miller chimed and about him being amazing at that and he was wonderous over his distance control from the rough....said "no one else has that distance control from the rough like Phil, perhaps because he plays it so often he gets lots of practice"...that was a funny touch. Notah Begay said when everyone else talks themselves out of a recoverable round, Phil has the ability to still see the positives that he can still perform after a bad shot/hole, etc. Was pretty cool hearing those things if you scoured the various articles and commentary.

I always liked Notah and his analysis but after hearing him praise Phil so much he even went up a noche lol !!

Leader bogeys 1st. PHIL bogeys 2nd. Par 3s this year haven't been good to him. Last year #1.

Scores are rough but we need to hit fairways

It hard to believe Phils driving percentage is this bad this week. I know these fairways aren't considered wide but this is ridiculous. Getting to the point in the round of needed a miracle.

It seems as positive as Phil is talking he judt can't produce on SUNDAY. just missed 7fter par save and bogeys another par 3. It's been too long since his last victory the pressure especially on Sunday is too much. No other explanation for it. Pains me to say it.

Gooollllly.... par-3 over water... Phil at -11 had a semi-longish putt and left it dead center on the edge of the hole. If he made that, now Brenden Steele, leader at -14 got a 6-7 footer for bogie. If he misses, the lead is -12

Well that bogey on 17 likely cost him 2nd place. He hit iron off tee and missed fairway.

Phil playing well but he will face a much tougher field in China in 3 weeks. At least he felt the heat of contention

Phil was #1 in birdies this week and last in driving accuracy. T3 amazing

solid tournament. Needed to make some putts on the first 9 however. Too many missed shorties this week

I do not agree with the change in the qualification. Tournament is now no different than the Mexico City or Firestone tournaments.

Which goes to show how important it is to tighten up the driving.  Trying to win when you are leaking shots left and right due to hazardous driving isn't going to allow you to win. In the past, he has won in spite of himself (bad driving)....as he gets older, that will impact him more. Fix it Phil!!
