What do you think of the pairing? Is it better than being in the final round with DJ?

Phil's brother is Jon Rahm's agent, so I am sure they golfed alot together. I think it may help to get him out of a bombers group and let him focus on placement and not length.

I agree I don't think in this case it serves Phil well to watch DJ and Rory bombing it far and straight. IMO that's like salt in Phils wounds especially after yesterday's 4 fairways. I remember he has said it's sometimes better to let the other guys watch him making birdies and they have to force things. 2 behind isn't bad but I can see someone shooting something real low like Jordan did yesterday. Hopefully Phil will shoot that score he keeps saying isn't far off.

But I can't believe Phil will have as horrible a driving round as yesterday....yes, he was a Magician 90% of the time he ended up there, but geesh, so many times. When he was in the bushes again, I thought they were showing clips of the previous bush, but no, it was a new bush, lol. I would laugh if he came to the practice tee with a pair of pruning shears (much like the guy with the water goggles at the President's cup).

Seems like guys are scoring on the early holes, so a quick start will be nice.

Funny Rory comments on Phil's play:

Despite his troubles, Mickelson remained in the hunt, just two shots off the lead and tied for third with Rory McIlroy, who was predictably impressed with Lefty’s scrambling ability.

“Phil rode his luck out there, but jeez, if I was hitting it off the tee like he did today, there's no way I would shoot 68,” McIlroy said. “Like I would be a mess if I was hitting it the way he was today. I guess that's the difference between us. I like to see it going down the fairway and playing nice that way, where he goes like [sideways] and shoots two better than me, so there you go.”

Why is it that when PHIL HAS A Shot At WINNING the leader board has #1 in world who is at peak form and JT three wins and let's not forget Rory right there on top. Never nervous inexperienced guys. With a win they said Phil goes to 10th in world.

Easiest hole and needs to hole a bunker shot for par. Sad

Playing himself out of contention in one hole. He's lost the 'it' factor it takes to win out here. Maybe he never finds it again.

Bogey on 1. Phil sounded embrassed with the way he struck the ball yesterday. I'm sure the first hole will only hurt his confidence.

It has to be nerves at 46 yrs.old and 3 year drought. He says he is playing good but in contention another story on Sunday. Pains me to say this but what else is it. He's shown flashes of brilliance but not 4 rounds

Sadly I will probably find something else to watch this afternoon. Don't really watch much golf anymore and was hoping for a Phil thrill.

they just said no one using driver on 5th and Phil does and is in woods. This is the kind of irrational course managementioned that is killing him

A lot of poor swings where he's coming in late and misses big. After a nice birdie on 6, flails an iron way left and bogies. In the trees on 8.

He's running out of holes and playing like this be a miracle for a top 10. DJ looks too good.

Possible double coming up. Doesn't look like he'll even get a top 10. Yet another Sunday stumble.

Pitiful that he can't find a club to hit the fairway and have a longer iron in instead of playing in the woods. PHIL Likes To PLAY Aggressive BUT AT HIS Age Has thrown away oppountities to win because of this. I suppose because of the long straight drivers today he feels he has no choice. Very frustrating for Phil and his fans because he gets in contention and then folds.

Double from the player that leads in putting at the start of the round. He wants it too badly and knows father time ain't on his side. So bittersweet because he has had plenty of opportunities to win since his last victory

Phil just doesn't have it on Sundays anymore and it must freak him out. He looks and plays uncomfortably; like a young player who hasn't won before. From what Phil and others around him say, it sounds like he's put in plenty of work, so it's incredibly disappointing he is unable to put together four rounds. Over the past two years, many golf writers have speculated whether Phil was done winning and up until now I would protest; not any longer.

DJ saw the light during his 6 month suspension and cleaned up his act now he seems unbeatable.
