Scottish Open Round 3 2016
PHIL has not scored well this week but he has played pretty decent. Everyone needs a break now and there. Maybe next week will be PHIL's week until let's go PHIL

1 over for first 9 holes. Guess we don't have to worry about peaking a week early. I just hope he can contend next week.

OK, thru 16 he's -2 on the round and -1 overall. Patrick Reed also started +1 but is -5 on the day and sitting at -4, ugh.
DJohnson pulled out of the Olympics....Patrick Reed is on deck as alternate. But Phil can't get in via the 4 from same country unless he is World Ranking top 15, I think he is 21 currently. Would have to finish no worse than solo 2nd place in this tourney to make the top 15 in world ranking.
Phil -2 today thru 17, -1 overall. Let's get a birdie on par-5 18th!!

Crap, Phil had like a 15 footer for birdie...missed....par...what the heck, he really let the par-5's slip by this week.

crap, several guys are -3 through 2-3 holes already!! Phil did not take advantage of the benign conditions today, even the announcers said 'you will not see these conditions again if you played every day for the next 2 weeks'.

Phil is really running out of things to say about his game when he is in front of the microphone. He said he was feeling good about today and didn't produce. I feel really bad for him. Today it was really great scoring conditions for his round. I guess we can say he lost this on Thursday where he got the bad draw and shot 76 but other guys on his side of the draw on Thursday didn't score that badly. He may not win another major but what is really unfortunate is in the early part of the season he had a few chances to win and didn't.

He can't resist the temptation to put a positive spin on things. The best way is keep the mouth shut and say, I'm feeling pretty good but you still have to perform, let's see what happens. But he often goes into this "I feel I have a low round in me" bs and then it doesn't happen. I roll my eyes whenever I hear these things from him....Self-Inflicted Jinx Statement.
I also noticed that he's played 23 tournaments already, and will likely hit nearly 27-28? before all is said and done....didn't he say he was thinking of cutting down to 15?....and I responded well, if you snooze you lose, and that he would lose ground to everyone else playing mid-20+ tournaments, so I guess he noticed that and didn't trim his schedule as much as he might like....because he'd really fall from World Ranking/RyderCup/Presidents Cup points if he did. He also announced he's playing the 1st tournament of the next season, which he's not done in a long while...Oct-Nov, perhaps in an attempt to spread this many tournaments over a larger time frame?

He got the wrong side of the draw and got behind from day 1. I also think that the greens running at 10 are not in his favor. Obviously he has not adjusted well.

Yup PHIL is playing closer to a full schedule for 2016 and looks to do the same in 2017.
