Cup Aftermath

Just read Tim Roseforte--or listened to him--on the Golf World site, and he said that Phil is taking some flak for the two ball thing, as well he should, but he also said that after the rules official gaffe, he would have said to his opponents, if things had been reversed--pick'em up boys. He said there's no way Phil would have taken even half a point under those circumstances and would likely have received some flak for that too. I couldn't believe that the Internationals never addressed that.

How bout Brandel Chamblee shootin his mouth off again against Tiger and Phil being future Captains. He really went on a rant especially against Phil. So far everybody on TGC and Jame Diaz said he is wrong!! He said Phil CORRUPTED the Rider cup from the inside.. I think that's borderline slander!!

Sometimes I like Brandel, and then other times he stubs his toe big time.  That was a stupid comment if ever there was one, seemingly to start controversy.

I heard that the US side invited the Intl's to the after party, what a great statement. I also read that it was the friendliest competition ever as well, as I saw both sides interacting while the last players were finishing. For example, I think Bubba went over to console Lahiri saying the he missed the exact same putt and don't take it too hard, he'll redeem himself another time.

But on lighter side, Golf Is Hard Work, as attested by Phil in a relaxed position:

He's a big Watson fan and so far, from what I've read and heard, Phil has mega influence on the cup scene. Must really rub Brandel wrong. LOL He is a real publicity hound, and in need of some attention right now. The young guys really go for Phil, and it's not Brandel's generation, so he has to be true to the really older dudes I guess. He's actually irrelevant. He couldn't stand it that Phil showed up with game and became more popular than ever! Dream week for the most part for Phil fans. I loved it that Tim Rosaforte is such a good friend to Phil and knows that as an act of class and sportsmanship, Phil would never have accepted half a point from them if it had been reversed. Phil can accept responsibility, but his dig about spotting points says what he really thinks of the situation.

Lots of good PHIL talk this week. I suspect PHIL will be back in January but will not do Asian swing this year. That's reading the tealeaves.

He said he was taking 3 months off and will be working on that technical swing issue he has. Said he was 80% at Presidents cup.

Nobody has agreed with Brandel. Also interesting that Tiger and then Phil are the top two brands in sports as far as money goes--on their name. That is really something, IMO. Rory was the only other golfer in the top 10.
