and I am back. Guys we had a death in the family, my wife's brother, on Labor day. That completely changed things around here. He lived two houses down from us and it has just directed our time away from PHIL. Now I need to give PHIL a little time as a healthy diversion.

So let's go PHIL.

I am so sorry Ralph. Have wondered where you'd been. Glad you are back at the helm.

Ralph, sorry to hear that. Hope you and wife are OK and hopefully he lived a full and complete life.

I remember asking my dad when I was in college, 'why do you read the obituaries, what are you looking for?', and he said, when you get this old, you sometimes find your friends or people you know in there. Shocked

I appreciate the kind words. Its the doing part that is hard right now as we have a lot take of. He was a big part of live for years and a part of my wife's life forever.

And PHIL drained a long putt for a bird!!!

What happened to Jim Furyk that he withdrew after 6 holes, was only +1 at the time.

This is depressing watching all these guys holing out from everywhere. Sure is a changing of the guards.

Jims wrist was progressively getting worse as round continued. Started day with it wrapped. Said had nothing to do with injury years ago.

PHIL CAN'T PUTT. 3 tries missed under 11ft and no birdie on 1st par 5. 3 holes left to move up .

Jason Day is awesome.... I like that kid. He can stripe the ball, hit quality shots, and putt. He deserves to take the OWGR #1 this week if he does well.

I like Jason Day too. I think it's too early to write Phil off. I don't think he likes this course but he's playing well. I saw Brooks, Rickie, Bubba and others miss short putts. Wish the golf channel would quit saying that Brooks is not on the Pres. Cup team even though many expected him to be. Heard that several times.

If Phil can snag a couple more birdies and post a -5 bogey free 1st round it would be a great start. It's the tons of bogeys that kill his rounds all year
