Barclays 2015 Round Two
and PHIL had a decent 68.
I was hard on my Buddy PHIL as he could have got it to 65. A few errant shots and one or two putts cost him a super round. Saying that he is T-20 and well positioned if that super round happens today. PHIL just missed an eagle putt and several birdie/par putts. Oh so close.
Yet at t-20 clearly he is among the top 12 US players today.

He sounds upbeat. I especially like this part of the interview:
Q. You talked at the PGA about having good rounds and losing your focus late. Is that kind of what happened on the back nine today?
PHIL MICKELSON: I didn't feel like I lost focus today. I just made a couple of bogeys. I actually played the front, I felt, okay. I missed some fairways coming in and then I'm fighting for pars, I wasn't even thinking birdies. But my front nine, when I hit the fairways, I was thinking -- I was able to think birdie and attack, and that's a big difference.

All this talk of 'focus' may undermine his chances of getting on another Presidents' or Ryder Cup team. If you are constantly reminded of "oh, I wasn't able to focus this week, or didn't focus next week as well....", hell, as a captain, I'd want people capable of maintaining 'focus' all the time and this constant talk of 'lack of focus' just undermines Phil, imo.

Re: Barclays 2015 Round Two
The front nine has been brutal on PHIL
Hoping for a good score like -6 on back 9.

Re: Barclays 2015 Round Two
Every bogie was basically the result of a fairway bunker and then not able to get up and down with wedge and putt....missed two nine footers for par which would have kept him level for day...looks like he is just a bit off especially off tee with less than driver and with putter. Needs to get a good back nine in and move up or at least stay within cut line with a decent back nine.

Re: Barclays 2015 Round Two
UGH....phil's putter is balky...misses 8 footer for birdie at 11 (par 3) and a 5 footer at 12 (par5) which would have given him 3 birdies in a row and got him to 3 under....now instead he is one under overall and one over for day....that is 4 missed putts under 10 feet for Phil today.

He got a birdie to get it back to -2 and Even for the day, now on a par5, he drives it wide-left. Hope he has a shot to the green....312 to the hole.

On 11, 12 and 13 Phil missed putts of 8, 5 and 6 feet to cost himself 3 shots

Re: Barclays 2015 Round Two
Argghhhh....he blew another stroke needing to take a drop from the bad position he drove it to on the left.
He's not even on the green after 4...making bogie here, imo. Bogie on a par-5, ugh.
Can't tell if he bogied or par'd the par-5. Score shows par, but shot tracker shows 5th balloon saying 2 ft to the hole with another yellow balloon behind it, so that looks like bogie.
Maybe the drop from the drive was a 'free drop'.

He could have done better....geesh, the lead increased by only 1 stroke....he could have cut into the lead with -2 today to bring him to -4.
