Phil makes bogie on #1, 8-over

Hole #2, par5, 2nd shot is lying 51 yrds directly in fairway in front of the green....up and down for birdie....does he make? Chips to 7 feet to the hole...can he make the putt?

if he cant shoot under par after 3 days of tournament practice he will go into next week with very little confidence. That article I posted at the end of round 3 pages he sounded really down. he sounded like he was given up after the terrible first few holes of round 1. NOT GOOD MINDSET

Phil shocked by Bridgestone start

AKRON, OH (Aug. 6, 2015) – It literally was such a surprise that it left him speechless. Mickelson opened the WGC-Bridgestone with a six over par 78 that left him 123 strokes behind the leader and ahead of just six players in the 77-man field.

Phil had played several rounds in the days leading into the tournament and played them well. Or as he said earlier in the week, “I’m playing great.” He carried that into a Tuesday match with Keegan Bradley against Dustin Johnson and Charley Hoffman, who had to agree to at least really well.

Bradley said, “I’ve heard Phil say he’s playing great and then his best doesn’t come out in a tournament, but he’s really close to being Phil. I haven’t seen him play like this in awhile.”

And then golf happened.

Phil’s first regulation par – fairway, green, two putts – came on the sixth hole, 75 minutes after the round began, by which time he had made triple bogey on the third hole and a bogey on five. One birdie and three bogeys late it was over.

For the day he hit six fairways, eight greens and his average proximity to the hole was 41 feet.

It was difficult to understand about a guy who had been playing well heading into the event and it was easy to understand why he was left speechless.

A golf writer Alan Shipnuck said Rickie broke up with girlfriend. I guess they are not on each other instagram accounts . guess that is we broke up in social media. I did notice Rickie's twitter picture is him alone. used to be both of them. She reminded me of duffners ex wife too much of an exhibitionist . Loved getting publicity.

Phil checked out today.
I cant believe he is that bad a player. I remember reading he said once that nothing is worse than teeing it up on Sunday with no shot at winning. His score sure says that .If he plays badly next week that will really SAY A LOT. He was 12th at that course but that was in 2010.

Too bad for Rickie but I am glad that there was no wedding or kids. I agree and think both Dufner and Rickie will do better.

tough day and tough week--maybe next week but expectations be lower?

PHIL and Rickie are playing a practice round with Jordan and Justin Thomas next Tuesday. JORDAN said he is going to put the US open trophy on every green. Said that's all he's got on Phil. Lol

I liked his previous girlfriend better, elder PGA golfer Olin Browne's daughter....she seemed like the kind of girl a parent would like their son to come home with, but Rickie went for the flash and glitter.

Rickie has a reputation as a fine Christian young man. He is going to find the right woman for him. Because they were so young, I was wondering if that was the problem with the Brown girl. She was darling. Never saw the appeal of Alexis but that's Rickie's call.
